Reef

Reef bounces across time and space, not with the grace of a pebble skipping across a lake but like a rubber ball thrown into oncoming traffic. It turns up with no fanfare, no scream of tearing space or ominous thundercrack it just drops into world after plane after reality, floating there.   Many cultures have seen this remnant of a world appear in their sky. Their awe of the ragged chunks of flying geography turns to horror as it vomits out its citizens. Reef’s great city of Rasht teems with pirates, who make their home on this roving wonder. In parallel to this is Caspi, a city of traders who exchange items of wonder and sell skills and knowledge at prices enough to bankrupt entire worlds. Reef consumes what it can, the wizards bargain for magic, the corsairs take gold, the libraries abducts books and everyone else hoovers up the scraps.
