The Necromancer
In Reef folklore there is a concept known as the Necromancer. Bourne out of fear of the Tomb Machine this being is a threat told to children and curse said by adults. This figure of legend is a harbinger of a dark future in which the Tomb Machine comes under its control. The myth isn't connected to ancient writings or old lore, instead, it seems borne out of a deep fear that all the uncoordinated power of the Tomb Machine may one day gain a commander.
"The idea of the Necromancer as a threat is one that speaks to the logical and rational. It takes no leap of imagination to imagine a Lich or other Dark Sorceror to rise and come either reclaim or dominate the Tomb Machine. I am of the belief that the Tomb Machine is more alien than that, it's manufacture and purpose not just some dark battery for a coming darkness. Still the threat of some deeply powerful magical entity surging up to claim it wieghs on my mind. There is a reason we call the dark mages who rise to promininence 'Necromancer' it's not because they are or even could rise to that lofty position of power, it's a reminder that one day their may be one who has the means to try and take that title in full.
