Lady of Burnt Silk

Cover your eyes for you are not worthy. Embrace the fire for it shall cleanse this from you. All shall come to our ladies embrace and it is upon you now to ask, shall I be cast down, or will she raise me up to eternity? No matter your faith, the Lady is waiting for you, she has walked through fire so we may be judged fairly, she does not play favourites like those other gods who tip the scales for those they favour.   The Lady of Burnt Silk arrived on Reef within the last few decades, it's unknown what world she originated as her teaching seem generic and unfocused compared to other Refugee Gods. Her domain focuses on death, an already oversubscribed area of faith on Reef, as gods of death tend to be the last standing on the ravaged worlds Reef occasionally finds. In particular, she is in competition with Nyx and The Raven Queen, who are the default gods of death on Reef. While much of what the Lady demands of her worshippers is secret there are worrying themes that cause Nyx and the Raven Queen to put aside their cordial disdain for each other and focus on eliminating her.   The Lady's followers tenants focus on fairness of judgement, and she encourages her flock to be cremated, both noble and acceptable interests. The most obvious issue is her intense disdain for certain races, Tieflings, Elves and those of more monstrous descent, and despite her cry of fairness, she claims that these few are born wrong, public preachers state that these races must do more to prove their worth, senior clerics know she considers them damned from the start. Preaching hate is not tolerated on Reef, the need for social cohesion is a key tenant of The Seer Senate and so they have sided with the established gods and support their crusade, though have yet to actively outlaw her worship. The Skull Burners list The Lady and her worshippers as a cult to be watched and managed, they have yet to see clear evidence that the cult, as a whole demands, their stretched attention.   The Clerics, Paladins and wider clergy of the Raven Queen, whose focus is on preserving the memories of the dead but not controlling their path loathe the idea of another deity trying to influence souls. There are also rumours of the cult involving itself in ritual sacrifice and burning its enemies, several paladins were lost investigating this, their armour was found months later, scarred with ash and deformed by fire.    This inquisition has found that her followers have spread in particular to less affluent communities, offering food and comfort. Without believers The Lady will remain weak, however, this growing stream of the disillusioned could in time become a source of power, enough so she could start to deliver on her promises even to those outside her belief system. The church seeks to find the key players of the church to disrupt their work and break their power.
