Rose started her sailing career as a stewardess on the Antelope. Crippled by student loans, and a lull in the industry made her accept any job that was vaguely connected to sailing and promised at least some pay. The recruiter for the job on Antelope was just the first to call her. Two days later she sailed out, with a minimal crew, on a ship that wasn't even finished. She was both stewardess, cook and deckhand. But the sea had a grip on her, and her heart felt lighter when she was sailing.
That first stewardess job turned out to have an enormous effect on her future sailing career.
