The Robinson-Starhemberg family began when her Father moved to Britain after the Adelsaufhebungsgesetz (Law on the Abolition of Nobility) in 1919. Initially they lived in an old family town house in London formerly belonging to Prince Ludwig von Starhemberg a former Austrian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, before eventuly he met her mother adopting her name following their marrage and settleling in South Ayrshire, Scotland. Lilly was born not long after, having being raised multilingual in English, German and Scots Gaelic, holidaying in her fathers native Upper Austria, staying at Castle Starhemberg, Eferding; hunting, horseback-riding and swimming in the Danube.
Lilly trained as a scientist, studying Biology at the University of Aberdeen specialising in Genetics. Following her graduation she worked for a time on the Heck Breeding Program in Bavaria, where she worked on the reverse breeding of cattle to create the Heck Cattle species. Also while working on the program Lilly had a chance encounter with Hermann Göring, the project's patron. She was also invited to join the Faith and Beauty Society by a colleague (Yolanda Schütz), but declined and returned to Scotland.
Following the outbreak of WWII, Lilly's Starhemberg cousins lived in exile in Switzerland and served with the western Allies in the British and Free French Air Forces for a short period. However, after the Allies entered into an alliance with the Soviet Union which they viewed as equally evil as the Nazis, they ceased involvement in the war.
Lilly however after breafly working in the Women's Land Army, she had a chance encounter with the Home Guard who were convinced they were arresting a German spy. However they were intfact accidentally hassling Swiss Tourists, after defusing the situation acting as a German translator. The Home Guard Officer recommended her to the new Special Operations Executive program, with the note 'her talents are wasted in the fields'. During her SOE training, Lilly was given an introductory course into shooting, demolitions, lock picking, radio operations and spy craft.
Some how however her fresh SOE file became sequestered, and made its way to Winston Churchill's desk who personally recommended her to the SCP program.
