Workor's Bouillon

History

Workor's Bouillon, or simply known as Workor's to many, began as an emergency ration for Werewolves and later for Fairies, developed primarily for use in first aid and medical service. Developed to be incredibly calorie rich and develop quick energy in emergency scenarios, it was initially intended to counter cases of quick onset malnutrition and starvation but was later adopted by hikers, soldiers, and explorers as an emergency food, seeing use by Omnia, Dragons, and occasionally mages. Due to this shift in it's primary customer base, the company behind the ration began to expand, creating a line of the bar specifically for outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds and races, though those made for more carnivorous races have always remained their specialty.   As the bars became especially common among hiking communities, there has been a small but devout following who would use the bars as a more general snack and treat, even using it as a base for making soups, stews, and sauces, to which the company developed proper bouillions as a side product. By far significantly less popular than the bars themselves, they are still occasionally sold in hiking supply stores today, and by many, considered a novelty item.

Significance

The bars are an intensely calorie rich food developed for emergency usage that does not spoil unless contaminated with other food due to it's incredibly high fat content, oftentimes being likened to Needle Pemmican. Especially due to the fact the bar is made to not spoil, it has become a staple among hikers' kits, commonly being said as an item you should always bring on any trip into the mountains and "pray to never use". Even if contaminated by other food items, however, external areas of the bar can typically be cut away and disposed of, leaving the rest to safely be used.   It is a popular item with groups such as the Pack of Ferventi and Laramidia National Park Organization, commonly being kept in stock for emergencies and sold as a novelty near ranger supply stations. Different parks within the LNPO may sell different flavors of the bars exclusively as a souvenir, with the goal of having customers visit other parks to collect each one and complete a set. Due to this, Workor's will sometimes produce exclusive limited time flavors of the bar for the parks, meant to be sold for special events, such as park anniversaries, special promotions, or holidays. Due to non spoilage, "vintage" or discontinued flavors of the bar can fetch a high price through third party sellers.
