Fallen Crane's Regalia

History

The Fallen Crane's Regalia is a piece of ceremonial clothing worn by Soliairs Taeyang's predecessor. Although the garments were damaged in the Fallen God's final stand against Svrar, Goddess of Tigers, they were not destroyed as per Soliairs' orders.   Soliairs ordered that the garments be kept and preserved as a token of their predecessor, as well as for the historical preservation of the old crane cult's culture, artifacts, and history. Like many of the old cult's ritual objects, it passed hands to Ryoma, God of Tuna temporarily, due to his cult's high volume of chroniclers and historians, in order to be properly documented. Although not confirmed, it has been rumored that replications of the garment were created by him and Yung Pagoni, God of Peacocks, intended to be displayed in museums across the world, though where exactly is not known.   In 20,017, the garments were returned to Soliairs, and likely cached in the Temple of the Crane for safekeeping. Some believe that they were instead stored on Powderkeg Crane Island, though all members of Soliairs' cult deny knowledge of them and oftentimes of the island itself. Most likely, the garment was hidden, although while out of line with most traditions of the pantheon, other gods have oftentimes seemed to approve of Soliairs' case due to their status as a goddess.   Due to the heavy damage sustained by the Temple of the Crane during the War of the Moon, it is suspected that the regalia may be lost. Soliairs has not been available to comment on their status themselves, directing any inquiry to instead focus on aiding survivors of the Pacific Eruption Disaster.

Significance

The garments were used for centuries by Soliairs' predecessor for festivals, rituals, and celebrations among the crane cult. Primarily, these festivities were offshoots of Cult of Life festivals and holidays, oftentimes with minimal altering to their practices. The Fallen Crane also had similar garments for attending funerary precessions and rites, but these were known to have been destroyed some time prior to their death due to wear and tear, and were due to be replaced. Although never confirmed by the cult themselves, experts on the old crane cult have suggested that they were never completed.   Although never worn by Soliairs, in the past they have remarked they were willing to as long as members of the old crane cult as well as its priests were open to the idea. Typically against holding onto prior traditions and rituals, this remark was a shock to not only members of the pantheon, but their own cult as well, and sparked fierce debate. It is suspected that this schism may have been why Soliairs never donned the garments and instead had them stored and documented.   A priest for the fallen crane, Giovan, since retired, stated that Soliairs choosing to preserve the garments was done as an act of good faith to the old cult. Although he has since stated his retirement was due to the cultural and membership shift within the group, they hold no ill will to Soliairs themselves, stating "(Soliairs has) done well to take care of the former cult, whether we belong to theirs or not. Preserving our rituals in such a way for the future is no small act, and one we are grateful for." Giovan also suggested that many artifacts of the old cult were also preserved and relocated, to be protected from the Cult of Tigers as well as Svrar, due to their ongoing war with Soliairs.
