Vasili Orlov
Description
Commander Vasili Orlov is a stern, broad-shouldered man in the twilight of his prime. His white, neatly kept beard and sharply defined features speak of years carved in iron, not indulgence. Clad in heavy black leathers trimmed with fur and reinforced plate, he wears the Warguard's muted regalia like a second skin, more for function than fashion. His cold, hawk-like gaze rarely wavers, and the sword at his side is as well maintained as the men under his command. He speaks plainly, with weight behind every word.
Personality
Vasili Orlov is a man shaped by war, betrayal, and duty. Once a decorated captain in the Tsardom's border legions, he was known for refusing unlawful orders during the brutal Winter Reprisals, which cost him his rank and nearly his life. Disillusioned but unbroken, he found a new home among the Warguard, men who still held to an older, sterner code. Orlov's loyalty cannot be bought, only earned, and he demands the same of those who serve under him.
He is patient, methodical, and holds a deep mistrust for politics, having seen firsthand how ambition rots empires from within. Though not cruel, he does not coddle. His respect must be fought for, and once given, it is ironclad. The people under his protection see a stoic wall of resolve, and his soldiers, a living standard. And though he rarely smiles, those who have marched behind him speak of a commander who shares their burdens, bleeds with them, and never forgets the fallen.
