Writer User Guide

1. If you want to write in the RBU Sandbox, go ahead! New authors are welcome.
2. If you wish to borrow general concepts or widely used places, go ahead. These are fair game! Use them, tweak them for your needs, etc.
   Examples:
   • the Accountability Partner program
   • TATL
   • Ben Dover Administrative Building
3. If you wish to use a specific character or specific (generally named) place you should contact that author and ask permission first. Different writers may have different use requirements.
   Examples:
   • Ira Thrasher (Aystyr's Department Head of the Agriculture Program)
   • KNK (a named fraternity/greek organization)
   • A Named Team Paddle
4. While it never hurts to double-check with another author before proceeding, in my experience, most authors consider places (ex: Scarlet Moons Palace, Wear Out, Strike Zone) as fair game to use but people/characters as something you should ask to use.
5. As a general rule, if you want to write something in the same general idea but with a slightly different take from someone else, that's fine. With some hand-waving and time foolery, we would assume that they are simply a different time period, or something. If it requires using someone else's characters, ask permission!
   Examples:
   • If someone is already writing a softball team and you would like to also, you're okay as long as you have completely different coaches, players, etc. If you want to borrow coaches, players, etc., you would need to ask.
6. If you are an author who would like their work removed from or edited in this codex/wiki, please contact Aystyr.
   Examples:
   • If you want your stories removed entirely from the Story Index
   • If you want your stories re-ordered or moved from one category to another in the Story Index
   • If your story/character/concept is mentioned or catalogued elsewhere in the codex and you would like it edited, credited differently, or removed
7. If you are looking to share your stories with other RBU writers, most of us use Archive of our Own. You can tag your story with the appropriate RBU tags or add it to the RBU Collection on AO3.
8. If you are an author who would like their material added to the codex, check out the collaborator guide.

 

Reader User Guide

If you are a reader, this codex is intended as a bonus or supplemental tool to the RBU stories we know and love! For now it contains information about general concepts and places as well as specific things about characters from Aystyr's stories, but I hope to grow it in time to include lots of information about lots of mini-universes and writers in this sandbox!

If you have questions or concerns, please shoot them my way.  

Collaborator User Guide

If you are interested in being a collaborator in cultivating this codex, whether just for your own stories or all of them, you've found the right place! I'd love to have you join me in my organizing adventure. Pick the option that most interests you below:

1. I am a writer who has certain places, people, and ideas I would like included, but I don't want to mess with this website/the codex itself. Or, I have suggestions/edits to be made to what is already in the codex.
• If this describes you, cool! I'd be happy to add and format your articles to the codex, as long as the writing itself is done. You can send me information to add in an e-mail or a google doc.
• Check out articles that are already written for an idea of what formatting might look like/what might go where. Keep in mind it is almost infinitely editable and I can format things to fit almost anything you can imagine, but re-coding pages will take more time than just transferring information
• If you are looking for a very different layout or format than the pages that exist, a sketch or very detailed description would be helpful!
2. I am a writer who would like to have access to write and add articles, about my own stuff or others', to this codex
• If this describes you, awesome! Welcome!
• I have nine co-author spots available. For now, I'm going to say they are available on a first-come, first-served basis because I doubt anyone is super interested but if I am wrong and have high interest, we'll figure out a different system.
• Only current RBU-niverse authors may be co-authors on the codex.
• In order to co-author, you must have a worldanvil account, but you have access to the same Guild level I have while working in this world, so you will have access to Grandmaster level tools.
• I am happy to help you navigate the coding part of making articles look clean and uniform!
