s2e20 Sorry God, We're Skipping Phase 3

General Summary

Date: 4th of Zuun 1075 ZC


  Amy: Gruul and Ziljin Alex: Kraul Bryce: Da'Har Anthony: Krakerlake and Aleida
  Note: Add +1 Necrotic Rapier to Theo's inventory.
  We hear a tussle happening in the cave ahead of us. As we enter the next cavern, we see 3 quaggoths fighting 3 fungi creatures. In a sneak attack round, we do a bunch of damage. We take them out rather quickly, but Aleida gets poisoned by one of the fungi and it weakens her quite a bit.
  We take a short rest, and Ziljin tells us about an abandoned mining town that he's explored before. He was looking around until he saw some undead fungi coming out of one of the buildings.
  As we walk towards the cavern the mining town is in, guards on top of a wall call out to us. We pretend to be refugees lost on the way to the camps, until we get close enough to attack. There are initially 4 acolytes and a summoner, until a herald sees the commotion and shouts that they are under seige. They release a zombie ogre, and another cultists runs to alert Jhalros that the town is under attack. We kill him before he can alert Jhalros. We kill the remaining cultists.
  The Duke's energy detector starts beeping as we near this mound of flesh and rot. It is oozing the black sludge into the water. There's a cove that has a mouth that connects to a river that travels further up north. There are two small boats in a dock, and it looks like we'll need to take one or both to travel up north and continue tracking the slime. We know that we were able to kill these cultists before Jhalros was alerted. We invetigate the mound. It looks like a mini rot farm that found dead bodies and is connected to Jhalros' energy. Dream ask Kakerlake if she could take control of it, but she says only if it's connection to Jhalros is broken. She could activate it, but all it would do is create zombies that are programmed to consume. The Duke uses dispel magic to send the energy out of the mound so that it cannot be reactivated. Then he ritually casts Tiny Hut and we have a long rest. While we're resting, Da'Har finds a chest while he's looking around, and inside it has two spell scrolls: Reanimate Dead and Plant Growth. The lock on the chest is also slightly arcane (Lock of Trickery).
  Dream also uses the wand of secrets to look for any trap doors secret doors.
  We long rest.
