Sabotage of the Ironhold Foundry

Act 1: The Investigation

  Quest Introduction:   The city's once-thriving foundry, responsible for crafting the powerful Autonomatons, has fallen victim to a series of mysterious thefts, disruptions in production, and deliberate acts of sabotage. The Ironwright Consortium, responsible for overseeing the foundry's operations, is in dire need of skilled investigators and mercenaries to get to the bottom of these troubling incidents.
  • If the party has established a good relationship with the Lord of Iron, he personally asks for their assistance in this matter.
  • Alternatively, an open inquiry from the head of the IronBound factory (lyra) is posted, seeking mercenaries willing to investigate where the city guard can't or won't.
Investigation:   Upon accepting the quest, the party begins their investigation into the foundry conspiracy. Here are some key points in this act:   Scene of the Crime: The party starts at the IronBound Factory, examining the recent crime scenes.
  • There are no signs of a forced entry
  • Stolen Items- about 7 crates worth of scrap metals, 3 cold iron and 7 mithral ingots, various tools that when totaled together equal 2 and a half sets of forgmaster equiptment, 3 gear boxes, and inflitration upgrade, 2 half finished CA units, an scraped LA unit, and an expirimental rocket arm atatchment for CA v7.
  • Sabotaged- CA assembly 7 had srap metal thrown into the mechanism, assembly 3 had a belt sawn partially through, assembly 4 had a large fire (which during the distraction and localized evacuation the rocket arm was stolen from rear assembly 2). There have been additional minor breakdowns throuhgout the foundry, but they were not as catistrofic. 
Interviews: They can speak to the workers, engineers, and guards at the foundry to gather information. Clues may point to unusual behavior among the workers and strange individuals seen around the premises.
  • The going theory is that it is the work of Gremlins , though this would be more than the usual nuicence they pose, or the work of a traitor within the factory provinding materials to the rebels. 
Clues and Evidence:
  • sevreal gremlins have been seen in and around the foundry, but this has always been a nuisance when dealing with this many machines that tend to draw them in. They have however gotten harder to catch recently, coinciding with the upscale in attacks. 
  • If they have contacts within the rebesl, the rebels wont take credit for stealing the materials.
  • If they have contacts within Dusks network, he is equally annoyed as he has lost significant money (the ingots were meant for him). 

Act 2: The Pursuit

  As they are investigating, a fire breaks out in one of the back storage rooms. As everyone rushes to the fire or evacuates, the party spots a gremlin making off with a powering crystem from one of the assembly machines.    Phase 1- Market
  • hases the gremlin through the bustling streets of the city, the nimble creature darts between market stalls, leaps over obstacles, and navigates through narrow alleyways.
  • 8 squares of movment before first skill check event
  • Easy Acrobatics check as the Gremlin slips through a narrow ally
Phase 2- Entering Obsidian Hollow
  • The Gremnlin finds a crack in the street behind a shop, and begins climbing down. The gremlin leads the party through treacherous terrain, including crumbling ledges, and small unstable outcroppings as they decend deeper below. 
  • 5 squares of movemnt before second skill check event. 
  • Medium Athletics Saving throw as they reach a crumbling ledge. 
Phase 3- Adittional Pursuit
  • As they enter Obsidian Hollow, they will have to navigate through the dark allys and weave through the shadier elements of the city.
  • 8 squares of movement before 3rd skill check event
  • The gremlin jumps onto and knocks over 3 of Dusks agents, who will be very angry and now in pursuit. Now the party must loose the additional puruers while not loosing sight of the gremlin. 
Phase 4- Discovering the Hideaway 
  • As they ditch their pursuers, the Gremlin leads them into some of the more unstable sections of obsidian hollow, where there is much less foot trafic and use. 
  • 4 squares of movement before skill check event. 
  • as they turn down an ally, the Gremlin has disapeared. An hard investigation check to find the hidden door behinda peice of wood, amde to look like trash, leading into a nearby half collapsed building.
