Ormur plains Encounters

Good Encounters- 7-8
    • Encounter a merchant caravan, willing to trade goods
    • Make good time, reduce travel by 1 day
    • Meet a traveling mage named Sumas who invites them to share tea and camp for the night.
Neutral Encounters- 5-6
    • encounter a robbery in progress, possibly save the daughter of a noble family in the area?
    • encounter a small hunting party of local farmers, tracking an unknown beast that has been killing their cattle at night.
    • Find a young man covered in dirt hiding in a ditch. An accused sorcerer, he is hiding while members of a nearby town search for him.
    • find what looks like a fresh kill from a large creature, a merchant caravan destroyed. Skill challenge to determin what it was, where it went, then decide whether to pursue. Could be a dragon, burlette, Ettin, Draco Hydra or Liondrake. 
Dangerous Encounters- 3-4
    • group of bandits poorly disguised as local guards and who are controlling the road, extracting a toll for any who want to use it.
    • Wereboar (CR 4) pack. MM pg 207
    • Owl Bear- CR 3, aggressive and unfearful predator, hunts at night, can possibly be trained with some difficulty. MM pg 249.
    • Bulette- CR 5, burrows in the earth, nicknamed land shark. Hunts for prey across many different environments. MM pg 34.
    • Peryton- Cr 2, flying evil creature of insatiable hunger, eats human hearts, its shadow and voice is that of a human. Live high in mountains or above ravines preying on travelers or nearby villages. MM pg 251.
    • Ettin- CR 4, two headed giant, usually solitary, argues with its other head, but when focused on a goal almost unstoppable.
    • Kobalds- little dragon men the size of goblins, live in packs and nests, very crafty builders but all they have to use in junk, live in underground dens or sewers, often will serve dragons and have mini hoards. MM pg 195, Vg pg 165.
Deadly Encounters- 1-2
    • Liondrake- CR 7, vicious predator that stalks prey in well patrolled territory. FTD pg 207.
    • Draco Hydra- CR 11, created by infusing a hydra with chromatin dragon blood, can be found in service of mages or other powerful beings but can also sometimes break free of their magical bonds. Possibly wandering out of the elvin crater. FTD pg 176.
    • Green Dragons- CR 8, 15, 22, love to talk and lie and trick, enjoys stalking more capable prey and leaves survivors to sow terror and learn what they know, employs many servants, most prized treasure is the living creatures and people it has bent to its will. Coming out of Murkwood.
