Nyzorith- Illusion Assasin
Sister Nyzorith, the Veiled Fang
Vecnian Drow Illusion Assassin | CR 9 | Elite Solo Boss for 3 PCs
Physical Description
Nyzorith wears layered silken armor, each dyed in spectral shades that seem to ripple like heat mirages. Her long hair is bound in cords of bone and shadow-silk, and her mask is a lacquered white face split by a faint smile. When she moves, she seems to flicker—never fully solid, never fully there.
Personality and Motivation
Cool, clinical, and fanatically devoted to Vecna. She sees truth as weakness and illusion as strength. Every movement she makes is calculated. She has already rehearsed the battle a dozen times in her mind. She doesn’t fear death—only exposure.
Fighting Strategy
- Opens with a full field of illusions and clones, splitting party focus.
- Leverages hit-and-run tactics, teleportation, and invisibility.
- Prioritizes squishy targets (casters, support).
- Fights in a layered trap—a room with shadows, mirrors, or magical haze.
- Goal: Make players second-guess every attack.
Core Stats
- AC: 17
- HP: 136 (16d8+64)
- Speed: 40 ft.
- Initiative: +6
- Saves: Dex +9, Int +6, Wis +5
- Skills: Stealth +12, Deception +9, Arcana +6, Acrobatics +9, Insight +7, Perception +6
Resistances / Immunities / Vulnerabilities
- Resistances: Psychic, Necrotic, Nonmagical Bludgeoning/Piercing
- Immunities: Charmed, Frightened

Unique Equipment
- Mask of the Hollow Moon: While worn, Nyzorith cannot be targeted directly by a creature under the effects of a charm, confusion, or illusion effect unless they succeed a DC 16 Wis save.
- Whisperfang: A +1 dagger that deals an additional 2d6 psychic damage on a surprise attack. A hit from Whisperfang forces the target to subtract 1d4 from its next saving throw (once per turn).
Traits
- Mirror Veil (3/day): When she takes damage, she may force the attacker to make a DC 16 Int save. On a failure, they strike an illusion instead and the damage is negated.
- Twinned Presence: Nyzorith always has at least one illusory duplicate active. She can control up to 3 duplicates at once. These use the Illusionary Duplicate rules below.
- Veilstep (Recharge 5–6): As a bonus action, teleport 30 ft to any space in dim light or darkness and become invisible until the end of her next turn.
Actions
Multiattack
- 2 dagger attacks with Whisperfang
- +9 to hit, 1d8+5 piercing + 2d6 psychic
- On surprise: Add 3d6 and force DC 15 Con save or be stunned until end of next turn
Shadowstep Strike
Teleport up to 20 ft and make a dagger attack with advantage. If it hits, the target must make a DC 16 Int save or become blinded until the end of their next turn (illusory blindness).
Illusionary Duplicate (At-will)
As a bonus action, Nyzorith creates 1 illusion of herself (up to 3 active).
- Each has AC 15, 1 HP, and mimics her movements.
- When she attacks, each duplicate also attacks, but only the real Nyzorith deals damage.
- If a PC attacks a duplicate and hits, it vanishes.
- A creature can use an action to make an Investigation check (DC 15) to identify the real Nyzorith.
Spells (Illusion/Assassin Theme)
Spell Save DC 16 | +8 to hit
- Cantrips (at will): Minor Illusion, Thaumaturgy, Chill Touch, Message
- 1st (4): Disguise Self, Silent Image, Shield
- 2nd (3): Mirror Image, Misty Step
- 3rd (3): Major Image, Counterspell
- 4th (2): Greater Invisibility, Phantasmal Killer
Legendary Actions (3 points per round)
Choose 1 after each player’s turn (max 1/round):
- Phantom Shift (1 pt): Swap places with a duplicate
- Gleaming Fang (2 pt): Throw a shadow dagger at up to two targets within 30 ft (each takes 2d6 psychic on DC 15 Int save, or disadvantage on their next attack)
Predictable Legendary Action – Illusionary Duplicates
- Tell:
Sister Nyzorith spins her blade and whispers an incantation under her breath. Her body blurs and splits, forming 2 to 4 perfect copies in bursts of shadowy fog. Each duplicate begins mimicking a signature spell or attack, holding its stance unnaturally still—blades raised, shadows flickering with magic. - Mechanic:
At the end of her turn, Nyzorith creates 1d4+1 illusionary duplicates, spaced at least 10 ft apart in available terrain. - Each has AC 17 (same as her) but only 1 HP.
- They visually perform the same preparatory motion as one of her known attacks or spells (DM choice or roll).
- The duplicates charge for 1 full round.
- Neutralization (player counterplay):
- Duplicates may be destroyed by any source of damage.
- Area damage, Radiant damage, or Dispel Magic are especially effective.
- Resolution (if not destroyed by her next turn):
Each surviving duplicate releases the charged attack as if cast by Nyzorith. Examples: - Shadowstep Strike → Teleport and strike the nearest enemy for 3d8 necrotic
- Phantasmal Killer → Affects one PC with DC 16 Wis save or takes 4d10 psychic and frightened
- Gleaming Fang → Targets up to 2 creatures for 2d6 psychic + Disadvantage on next attack
