Madgar- Capital

City History, Culture, Trade and Description   The city of Madgar is a stone and timber built city, with snow covering most surfaces. Small fires are lit and tended too across the city street to provide warmth and light. It is a city as rugged as its citizens, and there is an air of hardiness to it. It is also much larger than many other cities in Madgar (which is still pretty small), known for its abundance of veteran warriors.   Serves as the capital of Madgar    Important Characters   Oberjarl Hroar- A large and burly human, with long grey hair, covered in a cloak made from a black yeti skin, with its head as a hood. He is older, having been in this role for 3 decades. He is however still physically fit and strong, known for his contests of strength and hosting of tournaments (often enjoyed by visiting Talons).   Arch Druid Siga- a female woman, she has copper hair and sharp blue eyes. She wears scale mail and carries a gnarled tree branch staff with an amber gem at the top. Siga was petrified for a hundred years before being rescued by her husband   War Chief Beine- a male human, Beine is pleasant in appearance, with thin golden hair and blue eyes. He wears half plate and wields a bone warhammer (crafted from the leg bone of a giant). Beine was a Talon many years ago, but left the order to take up the war chief position here, and to be with his love Siga. He is also easily distracted by magic.   Loremaster Afell of Clan Sheertop- Afell is a male dwarf, who has long messy red hair and blue eyes. He is usually dressed in a warm fur cloak over traveling clothes. Keeps the Madgar history and is a teller of legends.   Local Quests   Afell has found an old legend in the scrolls he keeps, talking about an ancient beast slumbering under the ice north which guards the lost texts from Madgars founder. He wants the party to escort him north to find it.   The mercenary Swara is at the tavern, drinking her sadness away and cursing a witch she hunted in the mountains who laid a curse on her, maiming her leg with necrotic energy that's slowly killing her. The curse can only end if the witch who cast it is killed.   Astride requires special ingredients to make her Arcadian hot chocolate. Some may be needed from the wilderness, others come by ship which is overdue and missing from port.    Notable Buildings And Districts   Grand Hall-   Market   Residential   Shops   Blacksmith- a large workshop located in the center of town in the marketplace. Run by Zaghin of Clan Bronzehide, a burly Northern Dwarf originally from Avingmount who came here looking for work as a young dwarf nearly 100 years ago. He has fiery red hair and a thick beard, and is known for his grand workmanship and drinking habits.   Potions- A dwarf by the name of Thugnar can be found drinking at the Sleeping Bear tavern, or more often in his hunting shack about a days journey outside the city. He has snow white hair, dresses in a molten white fur cloak, and is missing his eye. He is a ranger hunting guide, and though he is not trained in it himself, he is able to help find ingredients in the wild for potions, and has remedial skills in medicine.   Trading Post- The only permanent store in the market, is large but has mostly bare shelves (as people tend to make what they need for themselves). Run by a freezing halfling woman named Shinny, who has brown hair, and wind burned red checks. Constantly cold and shivering, complaining about her husband who dragged her all the way up to this frozen hell and then up and died on her, stranding her here until she makes enough money to go back home.   Sleeping Bear- A snow covered tavern and inn near the market place, boasting a warm fire and strong drinks, with a large stuffed Owlbear dominating the tavern drinking room. It is known for its specialty drinks made by its owner Astrid, who among other things makes a delicious Arcadian hot chocolate (a strange drink from another continent) which warms the belly and heals whomever drinks it. Astrid is a beautiful woman with braided blonde hair and blue eyes. She is married to Norvick, and accident prone man from Arcadia, dark skin and features and deep brown eyes. He was a sailor before being dropped off here by shipmates tried of his accidents. After struggling on his own and many, many trips for healing from astride, the two fell in love.     Butcher- a stand in the market with fresh meat dangling from hooks, run by a half orc woman named Idunne, who has dark eyes and a shaved head, with large tusks poking out of her mouth.   Shady dealer   Other NPC’s   Anken is a half orc male mercenary, fey in appearance, with copper hair and bright amber eyes. He wears a breastplate and wields a warhammer and longbow. Anken is lustful and soft-hearted.   Hari is a human man, has straight silver hair and amber eyes, and an unusual scar on his neck. He wears scale mail and wields a longsword. Hari is impatient and adaptable.   Swara is a female human mercenary. She has straight blonde hair and light green eyes. She wears modest garments and wields a longbow. Swara was cursed with a maimed leg, and is hunting the witch who cursed her.
