Gladria countryside Encounters

Good Encounters- 7-8
    • Encounter a trading merchant
    • Pass a group of Gladrian soldiers patrolling the area.
    • Find a particularly friendly farmer or traveler going in the same direction.
    • Good weather and make good time, reduce travel time by 1 day.
Neutral Encounters- 5-6
    • Meet a hunting party on the trail of a beast killing their livestock, may be willing to pay or trade for help.
    • Werebear (usually good)- CR 5. MM pg 207.
    • Copper Dragon- pranksters, mischievous, enjoy stories, particularly like bards. Might recruit bards as followers.
    • Find an abandoned cart. Could have tresure, could be an ambush.
    • River/stream crossing- Find a way to fjord the river, find a bridge or build a boat. If with animals, runs the risk of deep water or strong current. Possible water enemy, hag or some other creature. 
Dangerous Encounters- 3-4
    • Wereboar (CR 4) often show up in packs. MM pg 207
    • Werewolf- CR 3. MM pg 207
    • Owl Bear- CR 3, aggressive and unfearful predator, hunts at night, can possibly be trained with some difficulty. MM pg 249.
    • Ankheg- CR 2, burrowers in the earth, large monstrosity, live in forests and grasslands.
    • Bulette- CR 5, burrows in the earth, nicknamed land shark. Hunts for prey across many different environments. MM pg 34.
    • Ogres- large brutes, furious tempers and legendary stupidity, greedy and collect “treasures”, wander looking for easy food such as wandering shepherds or lone caravans. MM pg 237.
    • Bandit ambush
Deadly Encounters- 1-2
    • Green Dragons- CR 8, 15, 22, love to talk and lie and trick, enjoys stalking more capable prey and leaves survivors to sow terror and learn what they know, employs many servants, most prized treasure is the living creatures and people it has bent to its will. Would by flying out of Murkwood.
    • Roc- CR 13, predator bird, survival instincts, snag and grab tactics, coming from the Ash Mountains.
    • Hydra- CR 8, water dweller in lakes rivers and large ponds, ravenous hunger that drives it to new territories when food is scarce, grows new heads when chopped off. MM pg 190.
