Arnet- Darktow

City History, Known Trade, and Description   The city of darktow is a long established pirate haven, with trecherous approach and many jagged rocks protecting its cove, making it difficult if not impossible to make a cordinated attack against the island, but ideal for the passage of indivudual smaller ships who know the waters well.   Important Characters
  • Pirate King- A vampire named Helmund, incredibly wealthy and ascended to this title 8 years ago in the traditional mannor, staging a coup and killing the previous king. Increadibly muscular and cunning, he keeps a tight hold on his kingdom and ensures all pay their dues to him.
  • Ridley Berk- former 1st mate and now the pirate kings primary enforcer on the island, Ridly is a Female woman who has a narrow face, with white hair and large blue eyes. She wears leather armor and wields an enchanted short sword and dagger.
  • Vetrica- Son of Helmund and captain of his fathers previous ship Queens Tempast, Vetricia seeks his fathers admiration, and is willing to do jsut about anything to get it, including undergoing the ritual to become a vampire himself.
Local Quests
  • Vetricia has kidnapped the daughter of the King of Arnet, without his fahters knowledge or permission, hoping to gain the wealth and reputation that would finally prove his worthiness to be his fathers heir. Attempting to keep it secret, with her hidden in the lava tunnels, until he has received the ransom.
  • Captain Olamum of the Lady's Wrath is plotting to raid the pirate kings vaults, beleived to be somewhere within the lava caves at the center of the island, in hopes of reclaiming his families heirloom sword (plus as much tresure he can carry). He is willing to work with others, but is likely to betray them and take the treasure for himself if he gets the chance. 
The Dutchman- located halfway up the mountain, this is the location of an old elvin warship wrecked in the mountain, leaving many to wonder how such a ship was left hundreds of feet up the side of the volcano. It serves as the seat of power for the pirate king, who enjoys taking strolls on its tilted deck overlooking his chaotic kingdom.   Driftwood- one of the residential areas surrounding the cove, made of actual buildings and home to some of the more permanent and prominent local figures, located off beggars way.   The Beach- one of the residential areas, mostly made of tents or shacks built along the beach.
  • Trisses Bucket- locally known as the Pissing Bucket, it is a worn out tavern built out of a wreck along the beach, the door being the gaping hole in the hull. It is run by a fiery tempered halfing woman named Triss, who can throw a laddle like a dagger with pinpoint accuracy, a skill demonstrated many times on unruly customers. Bouncer is Pheny, a human wielding apoinsened club and wearing tattered leather armor.
  • Blacksmith- an open workspace set up on the beach, with tatered sails used as a over hanging tent to keep the sun off. Run by a dwarf named Olmack.
  • Findanye is a tall human woman, with thin auburn hair and hazel eyes. She wears leather armor and wields a long sword and dagger. Findanye is witty and heroic. 1st mate on the Lady's Wrath.
Docks- the harbor area, mostly made up of floating docks that rise with the tides and a few small shops and warehouses that stretch out along the waterfront.
  • Fish Vendor- a small stand set up along the dock, run by an half orc named Grafgar, a local fisherman with a small boat named Luna
  • Euruin- a humane man who works on the docks, carries a dagger at his side.
  • Herli- a human man working for Grafgar on his fishing boat.
Beggers Way- the main street and center square of the settlement, with a gallows as the center piece in the square. Lined with buildings made from salvaged wood from wrecks.
  • General Store- a large building/ warehouse at the transition from the docks to Beggers Way, this is where many pirates offload stolen goods and pick up their own supplies. It is run by a dwarven woman named Thildga, who has short brown hair and amber eyes, and walks with a limp. Formerly a merchant with the Steelswords Merchannt guild, she was forced out of the business for undercutting prices. now smuggles stolen goods and encourages the theft of Steelsword goods, and then sells it back to them, enjoying thwarting them at any point she can.
  • Crows Nest Ale and Bunkhouse- the largest building on Beggers way, it serves as both a place to grab some food or drink, a place to spend the night and a brothel, with the two later services being seen as synonymous with each other. Run by a dwarven woman named Borgga, who has a black cat named Gormed. The star of the brothel is a purple skinned teifling named Trix, serving drinks and usually wearing a golden see-through night dress. The up and comer girl is a beautiful and very young girl named Violet dressed in a similar night dress with a red hue. The bouncer/woman pleaser is a muscular minitaur named Burk.
  • Guard- Wulfre, a human man
  • Tolme and Telly Basi- a pair of halfing's, brother and sister, who sail with the Leviathan.
  • Vorte- A human man that has straight red hair and sharp grey eyes. He wears leather armor and wields a club and sling. Vorte is jealous and absent-minded. Sails with the Queens Tempast.
Lava caves- a servies of volcanic tunnles that traverse the island, used for smuggling, storage, and prisons, the winding corridors have claimed the lives of more than a few who ventured in without knowing the way back out. Also inhabited by a variety of creatures, including Behir's, oozes, Dark Mantels and Ropers, as well as an Aboleth (the one who waits) and its deep scion followers living in a natural underground lake deep beneath the island.
Ships In Port-   Lady's Wrath: This small and fast warship has a trim hull with lateen (triangle) rigged linen sails.
  • Captain- Olamum, a short half orc, dressed in a red overcoat and no shirt underneath, with a fine cutlass at his side. He is seeking vengeance against Vetricca who stole his ancestral sword many years ago, and the Pirate King for supporting his son's claims of ownership.
  • 1st mate- Findanye is a tall human woman, with thin auburn hair and hazel eyes. She wears leather armor and wields a long sword and dagger. Findanye is witty and heroic.
  • navigator- Hilda, a halfing woman with a shortsword and love of drawing

Queen's Tempest: This monstrous warship has a battle-scarred hull and bright brass fittings, and is propelled by bound water elementals. The ship is equipped with a pair of ablistas, able to attach ropes and pull a target in. 
  • Captain- Vetrica, a young vampire with pale skin, blood red coat and a wicked black scimitar. He seeks to continue the noble legacy of its father, the pirate king.
  • 1st mate- Vorte, A human man that has straight red hair and sharp grey eyes. He wears leather armor and wields a club and sling. Vorte is jealous and absent-minded.
  • navigator- Arles, a human man with round rimmed glasses
  • crew- Ceadwy, a human man wielding a pair of shortswords
  • crew- Wilge, a human man weiling a pair of daggers and a heavy crossbow
  • crew- Gytha, a human woman wielding a rapier, currently sleeping with Vorte

Leviathan- This monstrous warship has a trim hull with feathered wing-like sails. The ship is armed with several ballistas, and hails from south of Somick.
  • Captain- Orcog, a male Drow warrior dressed in what used to be traditional Somick armor but has been torn and modified to better fit the seafaring life, uses a greatsword slung over his shoulder. He is hunting the sea monster which killed his family.
  • 1st mate- Grodog, an orc that Orcog picked up traveling north some years ago. 
  • navigator- Sable, a beautiful female drow with white hair and a rapier. 
  • crew- Tolme and Telly Basi, a pair of halfing's who are brother and sister. Tolme is a stout but musculare male with a hand axe, while Telly is thinner and has a preference for daggers.

White Lance- This pirate ship has a broad hull with silver dragonwing sails. The ship's master is a slender woman named Alyn, and it is crewed by fierce raiders. The ship is armed with a naval ram and a ballista.
  • Captain- Alyn, a thin woman dressed in a blue coat and blood red sash, quick with her rapier and quicker with her mind, acheived her status by always being the smartest person in the room (and knowning when to cut a deal). 
  • 1st mate- an older half-orc named Bordock, experienced sailor and very loyal to Alyn, serves as the muscle on the ship.
  • navigator- a young tortle by the name of Bensin, with a slung bag filled with navigator tools and a spyglass usually in hand, not a fighter. 
  • crew- orc named Lagdush, pair of cutlasses
  • crew- human named Rarder, whom Sol already had an encounter with outside the bar. 
  • crew- Lafa, usually in the crows nest and equipped with a crossbow, also sings songs and plays the harmonica.
