The secondborn of 4 to Duncan MacArnold and Whinifred MacEllis (Whinnie), Malcom was his father's son. He went on to work for his father at 25, spending 22 years in the mines he became a subforman, his social skills and speech impediment not really allowing for much more upward mobility.

Unfortunately, the life he so loved would not last. The Kobold warband called the Hurtzzettle band of brigands would raze his home community. His father, inventive and brave as ever, chose to cllapse his mine entrance, trapping both the kobolds and himself in the mine closing a war path. Malcom would then evacuate with his family and dozens of others, leaving their community and hundreds of brave soldiers and volunteers behind.

His family was able to get on their feet in the provencial capitol, his older sister would begin working as a Governess for a wealthy elf merchant and his brother began woring as an alchemists apprentice. His younger sister was too young to work, but at least they were taken care of. Malcom bounced from job to job, and after a blowout argument with his sister, left the family.

He went into the woods to gather himself, where he began speaking with Muffin, a ferret who helped him learn the ways of the woods, now he plans to kill warlord Hurtzzettle

Competence and overachieving are qualities that ingratiate oneself to Malcom, the opposite is also true, and he becomes impatient with incompetent individuals and hedonists.
