Stormchasers
Before the fall of human civilisation, the Stormchasers were a mage led organisation of researchers and inventors, focused primarily on gaining understanding over the natural forces of the world including magic. They created a lot of the tools used by the Karkillans including the teleportation circles and guild pins, and had a whole branch dedicated to studying Karkia. They created the permanent portals to all the elemental planets in use in various cities around Ambion. They also provided mages to serve in most capital cities as diplomats and service providers, which were exchanged for resources being sent back to Stormbreak.
As far as public record knows, only a few Stormchasers escaped the destruction of Stormbreak and the raising of the Choris, and since humans have a relatively short lifespan there are likely very few left alive.
