Dungeons & Dragons Character Creation Guidelines:

Ability Score Racial Traits. +2 Dexterity, +2 Charisma, and –2 Strength.

Age. Although elves reach physical maturity at about the same age as humans, the elven understanding of adulthood goes beyond physical growth to encompass worldly experience. An elf typically claims adulthood and an adult name around the age of 100 and can live to be 750 years old.

Alignment. Valaeri Elves love freedom, variety, and self expression, so they lean strongly toward the gentler aspects of chaos. They value and protect others’ freedom as well as their own, and they are more often good than not.

Size. Valaeri Elves average about 3 feet tall and weigh about 25 pounds. Their size is Small.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 20 feet and flying speed is 50 feet.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and their Valaeran dialect of Elvish, which has differences in accent, pronunciation, slang and some vocabulary from the other Elven dialects. Elves with an Intelligence higher than 12 can choose one additional starting language.

Elven Immunities. Valaeri, as all elves, are immune to magic sleep effects and gain a +2 saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.

Elven Magic. They receive a +2 racial bonus on Spell Resistance checks made to overcome spell resistance. In addition, if any checks are required to identify the properties or use of a magic items, Valaeri elves receive a +2 racial bonus on the check.

Weapon Familiarity. They are proficient with shortbows (including composite) and rapiers, besides class-based proficiencies. They are also proficient with any weapon with the word “elven” in its name. Valaeri weapons, of course, are small in size.

Keen Sight. They receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks. They can see objects clearly at twice the normal range.

Low-Light Vision. They can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.
