Srhannon Tor
Pronunciation: sur-RAN-non TOR
Map Index: C-5
Location: Eastern Ceodaria in north central Aorlan (Not shown on the Atlas map due to scale)
Geography: Srhannon Tor, situated in the enchanted forest of Mithtaur, is a captivating natural wonder with a rich history and mystical aura. Rising 230 feet above the surrounding landscape, this mysterious circular hill is divided into distinct zones.
The outermost section is a steep, grassy expanse that can be scaled with ease. The next quarter of the hill becomes significantly steeper, adorned with ancient hawthorn trees that lend an air of enchantment to the landscape. This ring of trees has hundreds of small gold rings tied to branches on strings. The trees are said to be inhabited by a powerful group of faeries who serve as eternal guardians of the Tor. To pass through the ring of trees, it is necessary to tie an offering of a small gold ring to a tree branch. Failure to do so will provoke the wrath of the faeries and will likely result in a curse being placed on the intruder.
Further up, the terrain remains steep but transitions back to grass, occasionally dotted with small hawthorn trees. The summit, nearly level at the hill’s center, boasts a 30-foot diameter circle of low, red-tinged grass and a 9-foot-tall menhir of reddish-brown sandstone adorned with ancient carved magical runes. The entire hill seems to radiate a faint magic, with the magic aura becoming more pronounced inside the circle. The menhir at the heart of the circle emitts an exceptionally strong aura of magic.
Srhannon Tor holds profound significance for the druids, serving as a sacred site for their most solemn ceremonies. It's also revered by the Ceodari people, who choose this site for the coronation of their leaders. The great stone menhir, an enigmatic relic of unknown origin, stands shrouded in mystery, rumored to possess the power to open portals to distant realms.
While the Tor appears to stand alone on the forested landscape, it is discreetly guarded by the druids, who discourage unauthorized visitors. The vigilant eyes of the local wildlife, such as birds and forest animals, serve as early warning systems for intruders. If threats are seen to the sanctity of the site, the druids will mobilize a defense of nearby forest residents.
