Languages of Raios
A diverse number of languages are spoken on Raios. At a minimum, each race or ethnicity knows their own language plus the common tongue. Each language also has its own written form with the exception of Draorn, which is spoken only.
Humanoid sub-races each speak a dialect of their racial language. For instance, Valtauri elves speak Valtauran but are able to freely converse with Valmyrri elves who speak Valmyrran. While pronunciations may be different, things are close enough for them to understand. There may be a few minor difficulties as each of these elven tongues may have unique words and slang terms that the other may not understand.
Player characters with high Intelligence scores can choose additional languages up to the allowable limit. Exceptions to this are:
Secret languages, such as Druidic. Only druids may learn this language.
The Inu’adadin tongue is now lost to time, and the language can only be understood in its written form.
There is no written Draorn language and Draorn players begin play without the ability to read or write. Draorn who wish to learn to read and right can do so as they progress in level.
While you can learn to read Inu’adadin, no one in the present-day world knows how to speak the language.
The Ancient High Movoran language was once used by the elites in the pre-cataclym days of the Movorian Empire. The Movoran tongue spoken today is a dialect of what Movori commoners spoke prior to the Great Cataclysm.
