Mogn (pronounced MOW-gen) is a medium sized village on the north bank of the Arn River. Mogn is set up for a series of three level 1 adventures.
Government: Mogn is led by a mayor who administers the village, Raedmund Hollermin. There is a citizen militia to defend the village but they are few in number, poorly trained, cannot be relied upon, and will avoid dangerous situations. Especially when those are outside the immediate village.
Economy: The village’s economy is almost entirely dependent on the Mogn Mine, a tin mine known for its rich veins of ore. The mine provides most of the town’s jobs. A recently constructed sawmill, The Mogn Mill, produces lumber for construction and is bringing more trade to the village.
Points of Interest
The Mogn Mine: Cut into a cliff face, the Mogen Mine lies in a forest clearing one quarter mile north of the village. Large spoil piles lie to the east of the mine. A mine office and workshop sit adjacent to the spoil piles. Inside the workshop there are mining tools and wagons. A barn and horse corral are on the other side of the mine office. The horses draw wagons to carry the tin ore to the docks along the Arn River, where it is shipped to smelters down river.
The Mogn Mill: This small sawmill on the western edge of the village cuts trees up into construction lumber which is then shipped to market via the Arn River. The mill runs on waterpower with a water wheel powering its large saw. It sits in a large clearing with piles of uncut tree trunks on one side and cut lumber on the other.
Timber Camp: Situated next to a large clearing northwest of the village, this camp provides housing for the lumberjacks that provide timber for the mill. It consists of a small office, a mess hall and kitchen, 5 small cabins that house the lumberjacks, and a mule barn with a fenced corral.
Kobold Village: Hidden in the forest two and a half miles from the timber camp, the kobold village consists of primitive buildings made of wood with thatched roofs. It sits in a large clearing under great oak trees. There are eleven buildings in the village: a long house for the tribe and ten smaller houses.
Bugbear Cave: At the base of the hills to the north sits a large natural cave with many rooms. It is currently the home of bugbears.
Shops
The Tin Man: A small two-story inn that provides lodging and food to travelers. Its main room is often used for village meetings.
The Folly: This pub is rougher and dirtier and cheaper than the inn. The Folly has daily food specials that are popular with the local laborers, who are also happy to drink the less-expensive ale and beer brewed on site. The pub is a working class hangout in the village.
