The family Firetel is one of the founding families of the city of Lonereach, and a Noble house. They originally hail from the
Flam Isles. The family has ties inside the
Academy of the North, with many members, including the late patriarch
Oswald Firetel and his brother
Oldrek Firetel, were Arch Mages in the Academy, with Oldrek even gaining the title of Rector, before leaving for the Cargue.
Dana Firetel
The late
Dana Firetel, who was the wive of Oswald, grew distant and cold after her husband's death. When she heard that
Gustav Ustia had found a strange orb, she hired the
Five-fingered hand to steal it.
She later summoned a demon, using the blood of someone who was brought to her from the Five-fingered hand, and whom she killed herself. She tried to bargain with the demon in order to find out what the orb was about. However, the demon refused.
Before she could kill the creature, she was killed by an unknown person, and the Firetel quarter of the
Scroll of Lonne was stolen.
Later, the party found the demon still trapped inside of a magical circle inside the family's countryide mansion basement. They also found notes that Dana kept of her experiments, and took the orb upon themselves.
Herbert is the son of Dana and Oswald Firetel. He is a cheerful and social young man, but somewhat naive. According to several people in the city, Dana thought ill of her son. It doesn't seem that he knows what his mother was doing in the basement of the family's countryside mansion.
Herbert is the current head of the Firetel family.
Alastair is the family butler of the Firetel family. He seems to know what Dana was doing in the countryside mansion, and tries to keep it a secret to the people of Lonereach, especially Herbert. He even offered the party additional money for keeping it a secret to the young family leader.
