The Affliction

The Affliction spread quickly, wiping out half of the population of Radanísta within three months of being identified. Within a year, only 6% of the world population survived, due to a gene that made the survivors immune to the disease.   The Affliction was actually a set of similar diseases that worked with each other symbiotically, all of them striking the world at the same time. Nobody knew what caused The Affliction at the time, and even after the world was devastated, only the wisest even claim to know where it came from. Some say that it was a random mutation of a virus and nothing more, while some say it was unleashed on the planet by a hostile alien race seeking to bring the planet low before an invasion, while others think it was engineered by scientists native to Radanísta but it simply got out of hand. Perhaps no one will ever know...
