Amanda

"Whether blood or tears, the water of life flows through you, my children."

Amanda is the Greater Goddess of Goodness and a patron of birth, healing, and life. She is a patron of midwives and mothers everywhere, and counts water as a friend and ally. She is commonly revered by most sentient races as the source of life and a protector from evil. She is commonly depicted as a beautiful and voluptuous woman clothed in diaphanous white silks and an omnipresent mist which hides her less public bodily areas.

Dogma

Amanda teaches of the might of right and goodness, and how all things thrive in an environment of altruism. She encourages all mortals to be fruitful and multiply, to love and honor one's parents, and to root out and clear away evil like clean water scours away filth.

Amanda is directly opposed by her sister Eviscera, and thanks to the active enmity between the two goddesses, Amanda exhorts her followers to destroy followers of Eviscera.

Followers

Amanda is one of the most popular deities with the common people, and her temples can be found in most cities of any size. She enjoys a popularity matched by few, and is generally welcome in every civilized land.

Those who dedicate their lives to her commonly gravitate to hospitals, medicine and midwifery. Those that show proper aptitude are trained as clergy or to take an oath as a paladin. Followers of Amanda are eclectic and generally highly tolerant of the kind of unusual ancestry that causes such things as Divine Soul Sorcerers or Celestial Pact Warlocks, with the latter receiving only a smirk or a raised eyebrow instead of the usual hostility.

Temples of Amanda are bright structures with many water features, especially fountains and sluices where the clergy and recovering patients can quietly sit and contemplate.

Gray Order

Due to the intense enmity between Amanda and Eviscera, there is a special order that dedicates itself to the pursuit of protecting their brothers and sisters from the trepidations of the Goddess of Evil and her servants. Clerics of the Gray Order (and only Clerics of Amanda who take the Vow of the Gray) may choose the Grave domain, and Paladins who take the Vow of the Gray may freely select the Oath of Vengeance without repercussion. Members of the Gray Order split their focus between protecting others from Eviscera and taking the fight directly to her supporters. The oath is as follows:

We stand in darkness to protect the light,
and rage upon unending night.
Evil shall wither before the dawn
Of our shining weapons' mournful song.
To those we lost we make this vow:
To avenge your death evil dies now!
