Xxilaeg

  Xxilaeg is a material native to T'xij, one of several "leaves" of the unnatural land of Roog'alhiik. It is primarily used to power the Walls of Xigik which keep the home of the Iyshigik from melting away.   Xxilaeg is, in more than one way, made of solid thoughts. Not only is it a physical manifestation of thoughts, but the thoughts used to create it are those of the concept that is "solid." In the thought-farms of Rue'uul, visionaries will inhale the smoke of burning sleep, allowing their thoughts to bubble to the surface and manifest themselves more readily.   Once in this state, the visionaries will then meditate, and think only of "solid." They will remain in this thought for a period of twenty dreams, by the end of this they will have manifested a single brick of xxilaeg. Xxilaeg bricks are pale-purple, with undulating red and yellow lines streaking over their surfaces. Each is a pointed ellipsoid with four cubes jutting from its surface at equidistant points along its center. No shadows fall upon the bricks, and so, they appear as if lit from every angle.   To actually harness the power within a xxilaeg brick, it must be taken to either the center or a corner of the Walls of Xigik. At these locations rest centrifugal obelisks, each with forty-four carved slots divided among their eight faces. One must wait for an empty slot to face them, and then place the brick within before the slot turns away. Thankfully, the obelisks rotate slowly— making this a relatively easy task. Once slotted, the obelisk will propel the solid thoughts within the xxilaeg through the length of the connected Walls, and the space between them.
