Reading Challenge 2025
Worldbuilding goals for the 2025 Part 2
I missed out on Summer camp the last couple summers, and struggle to get past copper rank in the past; this year i really tried to embrace thinking outside my usual box and tried really hard to flesh out small side characters and ideas. My goal was to flesh a single island out to feeling like more than just a name in passing on the back of someone's wanted poster. i feel like i really started to get somewhere with it this summer. I had some.... horrible irl stuff going on so i wasnt sure i was going to finish but here ended up being my quiet place to unwind and escape all the other stuff. Moving forward - I want to get back into the writing of the story. I've been stalled out ont he third chapter for a while now - but this had me reimagine some of the back stories and yes, things will need to be rewritten, but im excited to do so becuase i think the characters and story will be stronger for it now.My plan for this month is to leave and comment on one article a day
Gunpowder, Gelatin, Dynamite (with a laser beam)
Working Title with love from Queen & Freddie Mercury, GGD follows a Pirate Captain and his Vice in the 8 days from escaping a hostage/prison situation after being betrayed by one alliance, to finding and freeing their own crew, to deciding to assist (not join) another group in overthrowing a warmonger who defeated them once, and his lackeys that spent the last month tormenting them. The story is 8 'chapters', each one focusing on one day in this interm. Of finding and freeing their people, and then dealing with the things they've done and the things they've endured to survive. And if they should cut their losses, becuase they will never win this alone... or if they dare trust outsiders again after being betrayed so badly, just for a shot of vengeance. Dealing with the trauma, or burying it completely to keep a strong front for their crew... Can the Captain and crew convince their Vice that she's allowed to grieve whats been done to her in exchange for their lives? That those that where killed for her failures have forgiven her and she can't let their enemies win by tormenting herself over it?Check out These Summer Camp Articles!
