Nathenean
The Natheneans are a race of jackal-like humanoids native to the desert world of Nata, orbiting around the smallest star in the Gemera binary system. Considered to be one of the oldest races within Inhabited Space, the Natheneans are renowned for their skill in using and restoring ancient technologies, as well as their fascination with studying and chronicling galactic history. It's thanks to their connections to the galaxies ancient past, as well as their technological advancements, that the Natheneans stand as one of the most influential members of the Dominion of Spheres.

Culture and Cultural Heritage
Since the earliest days of their people, the Natheneans have long been fascinated with learning and discovery. Having lived alongside one of the Elder Races, and having spent much of their pre-FTL history cloistered within the high tech bunkers they'd built for them, the Natheneans strove to learn all they could so they may stand alongside their benefactors. Though they would never recieve such an opportunity, their fascination with furthering their knowledge remained strong, serving as the driving force behind their expansion and interactions with the other races of the galaxy.
Additionally, the Natheneans hold a deep veneration for their ancestors. While this normally applies to their actual flesh and blood ancestors, the Natheneans have also included the Elder Race that preceeded them, as well as those who've had their memories and knowledge interred within the Kanopis Network. This reverance for their ancestors can also be seen in how they respond to the Shedim, who they revere as their most steadfast defenders, amd welcome into their society just as they would any organic life, despite their nature as synthetic beings.

History
According to surviving records, the Natheneans are believed to have appeared on their homeworld around the tail end of the Novan Age. Around this time, their homeworld was already occupied by a more advanced species that served under the Shapers as one of the Elder Races, and it would be this species that would claim stewardship over the fledgling Natheneans. When the Voidfall came, this unknown species created numerous underground vaults for the Natheneans to take shelter in, allowing them to survive the coming calamity that would wipe out their benefactors. It would be within these vaults that the Natheneans would live out the next several generations in relative peace, sheltered from the chaos of the wider galaxy, and absorbing the knowledge and technologies left to them by their former guardians.
In time, the now much more advanced Natheneans would emerge from their vaults to reclaim their now drastically altered world, and to unite the scattered remnants of their people. With their world reclaimed and united, the Natheneans turned their gaze to the stars in search of other relics of their predecessors throughout the galaxy, expanding their own territory as they went. It would be during this expansion that they would encounter the Azeth during the Age of Discovery, and the two powers became fast allies over their mutual interest in the relics of the Novan Age, forming the beginnings of what would eventually become the Dominion of Spheres.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
The Natheneans are close allies with the Azeth, and despite being powerful enough to rival them for leadership over the Dominion of Spheres, they are content to serve as part of its ruling council. Among the member races of the Dominion, the Natheneans are the most open to dealing with those outside of the Dominion, typically in the interest of furthering their own knowledge.
