Much that was known about the events of four hundred years ago has been lost, all that is left is legend and myth. Ages have come and gone since those fateful years, but much has changed from how it once was. The New Gods taught the people of the world how to open the new Life Ducts they had created. And from that water, many new Donums were born. Thousands of families with no history of power began having children with incredible new abilities that shook the structure of many societies. By the time the New Gods had left, it was more common to have a Donum than to not. After a few generations, people began to take notice that it was not family blood that dictated Donums, but instead it was the Life Duct one drank from as a child. Migrations, treaties, wars, nations did everything within their power to seize as many ducts as possible, as now they became the key to a country’s success. However, the power of all Donums were not what they used to be. The legendary abilities of the heroes of the past slowly rose out of reach, leaving those without power to sieze a larger role than they ever had in the past. Without the great power of the heroes of the past however, surviving in the wild became even harder than it had ever been. And rather than helping their peoples, many of the greatest warriors and hunters of all the nations instead became one of The Ascending, one who preoccupies their time with The Trials of Godhood, a series of great feats, challenges, and combats that are said to be the key to attaining the power the New Gods left behind. Because of this, nations had to offer opulent rewards to attract the attention of Ascending, and not necessarily only ones from their own country. Nations had to compete with each other for which could offer the best rewards. Nowadays, being an Ascended meant less and less about trying to attain godhood, and more about being a way to attract wealthy employers willing to pay them for their services. The Trials of Godhood changed, now a way for The Ascending to vie for higher rank and pay.
Akil, Asherah, and Osaze bring factions of Gredorans and Cumerians to their banner. Together, their forces set out to do the holy work of the New Gods: unifiying Middenland.
After the departure of the New Gods, the nobility of Helix made their move. For years they had been planning in secret a way to force all foreigners out of their shining city. And on one Drinking Day, they poisoned the entire well which the foreign peoples and their local leaders drank from. Yes, many Helix citizens died as well, but it was worth the result. With foreign powers in Helix decimated, the Arborian leadership easily forced all foreign peoples out of the city - including those of rural Arboria. This was the spark which began the century long Isolation War with what eventually became Kipos.
