The Great Awakening
Nearly a millennia ago marks
the day the first human woke up. Jolana Arbor
was the first of the awoken and the first to
recieve the Donum Anima, or the Gift of Soul.
She wandered a grass field among thousands
of slumberers, eventually coming across a
monolithic stone portal from which pure, cool
water streamed. Jolana sipped from the portal
and screamed out as she became the vessel of
all the magic Yominokuni had to offer.
Jolana wandered the dangerous wilderness,
which she named Yominokuni, for five years. She lived
off the land and slowly discovered the other
six fields of slumber scattered throughout the
corners of the world. Over the course of these
years, Jolana practiced her new magic and
investigated the mysterious stone gates which
were the only source of water to be found on
Yominokuni.
After decades of trying to awaken her sleeping
brethren, lonliness overcame Jolana. In her
desperation, she set in action the ritual which
would give life to all those who she had failed
for years, but at a terrible cost.
The first one to wake that dawn was Jolana’s
daughter, Anya Arbor. However, their time
together was tragically brief. Others awoke
to see Jolana embracing her daughter, a look
of true happiness in her eyes. Seeing others,
Jolnana cried and begged forgiveness before
whispering something in her daughter’s ear and
kissing her one last time.
