Slyiaflora Republic

The Free Meadows is a lush and prosperous land and seen as the diamond in the ring of nations that surround the Cassia Sea. The people of the lands though have often had to fight to protect the land they called their home, centuries of war lead the disparate tribes of the meadows to unite as a singular people and would eventually form the republic and nation of Slyviaflora or most commonly called the Free Meadows.

Structure

The rank of Pelatori, named for a good king of their past and mythology, is the highest social and political rank in the republic granted in those desperate times of war or change when the nation needs one singular leader in command of both political and military affair and in essence has complete control of the country. The title can only be granted by a native son of the republic by a nearly unanimous vote by the senate. Given the peoples fear of tyrants and such requirements it is a rarely granted title   At the top of the nation is the advisory council known as the Lilium Consultia, an organization comprising of at least one representative of each village of SlyviaFlora or The Free meadows. They are the legislative body of the republic. Deciding on the uniform laws of the nation and providing counsel on matters that affected regions of the republic but did not fall within there powers to change.

History

For thousands of years, the people of the meadows served under the maritime kingdom of Cassia. This would last for centuries until the times of a king they know as the tyrant of Elios, the northern peoples of the Cassia rebelled. They would be the first of many rebellions that would destroy the kingdom of Cassia. The northern people known then only as the syvlans would form up into a number of small tribes with their only binding relations being a shared, or at least similar, pantheon of gods.   They would not actually begin to form their republic until the invasions of the Telsuana empire. Where a number of the small tribes would band together to fight the invaders. The Tribes gathering then in small city of Lillium to discuss this allegiance. While not all of the tribes of the Slyvia would fully join the vergining republic until the threat of the Draka empire, the vast majority would be bound together and manage to push back any nation that tied to invade them. While they lacked the metal resources of other nation they simply choose qaulity of quantity.   In the ages post their formation, they have served in numerous wars and have fostered a rebelious spirit and a love for their freedom like know other. When the time of The Magistate empire came to be it was a hard fought battle against the people of the meadows. It would eventually end in a treaty very similar to that which the Holtlynd made with the empire. This has allowed the people of the free meadows to have a far larger degree of autonomy than most nations of the empire, for it is well known for a foriegner to chain the children of the meadows they must first be dead.
