Citadel City, Capital of the Queendom of the Sun
“It is with trepidation that I speak critically of our benign ruler, Her Highness, The Queen. That is primarily because, in my honest and humble opinion, she is simply doing the best she can with what she has. Contrary to popular belief, she is not infinite. She is a powerful servant of the Architect, his Wife, and above all else, certainly capable of errors in judgement. The Queen has openly stated as much, and is largely transparent about her official business, and it’s also how she remained uncontested, beloved and trusted for the past thousand years! Yet, we now face a pressing concern: our population grows ever larger, the Salvage Unions have picked the nearby ruins clean, and our agriculture is beginning to fail. The soil is depleting, fuel for our machines dries, and current political boundaries prevent us from expanding quickly enough to meet the demands of our Queendom. Meanwhile, technological advances have hit an apparent wall in their progress, due to scarcity. Magical research has also hit a similar barrier, though this appears more like an inability to properly understand and harness the theory of the art; a scarcity of talent, as it were. While the Mage’s Tower is fervently debating and studying to overcome this, it is abundantly clear that if nothing is done to expand further, we could face not only stagnation, but eventual collapse. The Queen has explained her reasoning: she fears, and rightly so, that becoming too aggressive in our pursuits will harm what we already have, instigate our neighbors, and warns against progressing too quickly for our own good. I appreciate the wisdom she displays, and so I patiently weather my own frustrations as we all work towards finding an amenable plan of action.” - Erimer, Archmagus of the Mage’s Tower.

Government
Elective Theocracy, Constitutional Monarchy with a Parliament
The Queendom had, until recently, been under the absolute rule of The Queen and Her Knight Orders. After 70 years of rule, The Queen reorganized the nation to allow the citizens to largely govern themselves, only using her authority to rescue the Queendom from collapsing under less capable leaders, before handing the nation right back to elected officials. Despite allowing the High Priest/Priestess to be elected, not a single candidate has successfully managed to sway public opinion in offering to replace The Queen in almost 300 years, even when she opted not to campaign. During that particular election, no candidates rose to take the seat, and all religious functions halted until The Queen resumed her duties nearly 3 months after elections had ended. Since then, it is rumored that she is seeking to groom a candidate to finally relieve her of her station.
If it is true, either none have yet to pass selection, or complete the training required to fully become the Most High.

Infrastructure
TBD, although there are some notable entries below:
- Barrier Towers: Citadel City uses large towers to extend security far beyond their walls. They emit a selective energy shield, that prevents the Undead from passing through. Smaller towers and pylons are strung along to secure roads and other paths, and there are even smaller models for private and personal use.

Guilds and Factions
There are four primary factions: The Mage's Tower, The Knight Orders, the Salvage Unions, and the Church of The Architect. Details to follow.

Architecture
TBD, although listed below are some notable locations:
Crystal Castle Ruins: Eerily elegant, hauntingly beautiful, and the city’s most holy location, this ruined fortress was kept in its current state by order of The Queen, never to be restored nor further salvaged. The Church holds functions here, historians and researchers study and observe every scrap of material they are permitted to access, and The Queen resides deeper within, at the top of the Spire of the Sun. The Queen prohibits exploring the deeper levels and strictly enforces this rule. While there are never any guards visible to prevent anyone from passing, many daredevils who attempt it all speak of a hideous sense of foreboding that renders them so ill, they cannot continue very far before losing consciousness. They always awaken back at wherever they first entered. It is assumed that there are religious or personal reasons why none should enter, though some devious minds whisper of a hidden treasure of great power that The Queen jealously hoards...
Spire of the Sun: Located at the center of the top level of the Crystal Castle Ruins, The Queen sits atop her Crystal Throne. Here, The Queen manages her affairs, holds important meetings, and basically does anything a Queen needs to do. It is also here, at the lower levels, that the Knights conduct their training and garrison their reserves. It’s rarely quiet here, always bustling with visitors conducting business and completing pilgrimages; Squires and Armigers (lowest rank of Knights reserved for trainees) completing their studies and daily regimen, and sometimes, throngs of children play while their parents or guardians attend services. At all times of the day, there are no armed guards or police within the Castle, or within the Spire, only whatever equipment is issued from the Grand Armory to those who need them. The people express their faith in each other and their Queen by stowing weapons and magic.
