The detonation of the heavily potent explosive nestled within New Cali resulted in a mutation of humans afflicted with Ardor radiation -- a type of radioactivity originating from the vaults the Vinculum exploited.

The energy given off by the explosion of New Cali blankets the atmosphere of Earth. This influential layer of power mutates when combined with the radiation embedded in humans descending from the Vinculum of Discovery. The bloodline that had descended from the early ventures into the vaults were the only few affected, resulting in a permanent genetic alteration known as Caelus. This mutation was not regarded as lethal, more so a blessing. Some of the first abilities spawned by the altering powers of the Singularity were simple things many would consider magic, such as telekinesis, and the manipulation of the elements.   Most of South America becomes inhospitable due to the explosion from New Cali, the magical anomaly of the explosion permanently transforming the terrain. Tectonic plates shift and crack, sending landmasses beneath the ocean and formulating crackles of magic that glisten throughout the land. In addition, the Central American Wasteland comes into existence as the anomalous explosion dried away the water surrounding Mexico and the immediate areas.    The Vinculum sprung to action, immediately initiation experimentation on those blessed with Caelus from their new base of operations stationed in Old Ishikawa, Japan. Their goal was to utilize the unstable source of magic to exact revenge on the Mobile Purification Unit for the fateful night of the Conquest on New Cali. Within a few months of questionable testing, the Vinculum managed to blend the magical form into armor, weaponry, and humans originally not afflicted with the special radiation originating from the vaults. The magic was given the name of Caelus, a latin word for sky, as the sky would be the only limit when it came to Caelus.   The MPU immediately ostracized those affected by Caelus due to its roots tying in to the Vinculum. From their new base in Corpus Christi, the group begins efforts in nullifying the magical strain and combating it effectively.
