Otherkin

Elusive and fleeting, their grey tongues dance with lilting lies.
The elusive inhabitants of mysterious Ysgarth, Otherkin are seldom seen on Prismaria. They are widely mentioned in old folklore, and are the subjects of myriad myths and cautionary tales.   Otherkin are usually described as being tall and slender, with thin limbs slightly too long for their bodies. They are described as having thin, pale skin, almost an ashy grey in colour. They have unnaturally wide smiles, and their teeth are sharp and pointy.   Otherkin have a reputation in folklore for being fickle and untrustworthy, more likely to tell you a lie than tell you the truth. Even when telling the truth, their words tend to be misleading and deceitful, telling only half-truths and lying by omission. Their voices are high melodic, talking as if they were singing.   In folklore they have gained a sort of notoriety for stealing away children and livestock, with tales of luring away young boys and girls with false promises of gifts and sweet treats. The twilit hours of dusk and dawn are said to be their favoured time to abduct their marks before swiftly retreating to a nearby mushroom ring to get away.   Some cultures associate the Otherkin with vampires in their mythology, noticing certain similarities in appearance and behavior, and suggesting that Otherkin may have a taste for fresh blood.   Ysgarth is believed to be an exceptionally metal poor realm, and the Otherkin are said to have a crippling phobia of Cold Iron. Openly carrying an item made from Cold Iron is often enough to scare away an Otherkin, and warding a doorway or other threshold with a visible Cold Iron object will dissuade an Otherkin from crossing the boundary.
