Personal history

Sojourna Holloway was born to a family of slaves in Canton, Mississippi on Wilmington Plantation. Her and her family's lives were horrible. She watched her father get lynched at the age of 6, and later that day discovered her abilities. She walked into the shed she lived in with her mother, 7 siblings, and her grandfather, and she dropped to the floor crying, her knees hit the wooden floor and her body turned into wood. She screamed, but her scream was immediately silenced by her mother. Her mother told her to never let the white folks see this, or they'd use her gift in any way possible. She kept her powers hidden, but practiced them in secret. The other slaves all knew about her abilities, and planned to escape one night with her help. One day when Sojourna was 15, her uncle was being assaulted by a random white man who came to the plantation for a game of poker. Sojourna screamed at the man to stop and he did. But the man decided he'd do it to Sojourna instead, which is what she wanted. She begged the man not to hurt her in front of anyone, but said he could hurt her however he wanted out of their sight. He agreed and brought her into the house. He wasn't seen ever again after this. Eventually, Bill Wilmington, the owner of the plantation figured out that Sojourna had something to do with the disappearance of his friend and told her that on the following Sunday, he'd make sure she paid the same price he did. Bill told Sojourna she'd be beheaded and that he was making a guillotine just for her. She didn't work the rest of the week and told her friends and family that all would be well. They planned to run immediately when she was beheaded because the Wilmington's would be too distracted by Sojourna's abilities. The day came around and as the guillotine came crashing down on Sojourna's neck, she turned into a cool metal and wreaked havoc on the Wilmington's. She killed everyone on the plantation except for the children, who were 2,4,7,11, and 15. She told the kids to go into town and find their friend's families. She met up with her family and friends at the river bend, and found that they were all safe. She told them they were all free now, but she wanted to stay back in Mississippi and help more slaves. A few of her friends stayed back to help her cause, while the rest of them headed up north and found freedom by her aid. Sojourna freed over 410 people before slavery was officially abolished. She met Abraham Lincoln and secretly started The Echokind under his request. Abe also told her where The Pond of Youth was and gave her and The Echokind free use of it, which is something he, nor any other president ever gave permission for again. She has been fighting for minorities since 1837. She drank from The Pond of Youth at the age of 43, leaving her preserved at that age forever physically.
