Sunless Horde
The Sunless Horde was a military organization that terrorized the kingdom of Eshiesal in the northern reaches of Taretza during 139 ED. The army wielded great influence due to having allied with the Union of Love and having partial control of Balaur, a mighty dragon clad in adamantine armor.
Originally, the sunless horde traversed the Underdark, conquering smaller villages and cities, taking both lives and supplies. During this time, the duergar found a passage leading to the surface, taking them to a temple in the Elhate Badlands called Ravi'Shikhar that belonged to a group of Thri-Kreen (Ant-like humanoids) called the Ravi'Dhan.
With access to this temple, a scouting party of the horde was sent to both drive out the Thri-Kreen and take with them any valuables they could. During this time, the duergar had trouble gaining access to the inner temple and was attacked by
the Excursionistswho defeated the members of the scouting party. After this, they briefly explored the depths of the Underdark by following the passage. There, they caught a glimpse of Balaur before deciding it might be best to head back to the surface.
It would take some time before
the Excursionistswould encounter the Sunless horde again. During Session 43: Death and Destruction Report they learned that the Sunless horde had taken part in the attack on Velámón, aiding the Union of Love in taking over the city.
After the attack, the Sunless horde settled in the city for some time, before starting to meander and destroy nearby smaller settlements, such as Alquín, Cargué, and the orc villages on the Puri Plains.
