Liana Buckner

Liana Buckner

Liana’s parents raised her with the expectation that she would join the military as soon as she graduated high school. She never really saw another path in life as an option due to her need to make her parents proud of her. She stayed active in high school with every sport she could sign up for, but had to leave behind her love of sports and her old teammates when she graduated. Once Liana had joined the military, she rose through their ranks at a rapid pace. She had grown up with her father acting as drill sergeant and making sure she could complete any training course given to her with ease. Liana’s parents were unsatisfied with her achievements until she joined the Special Forces Green Berets. She was given the title of Weapons Sergeant and took her new position very seriously.     Liana grew very close to her 11 other squad members as she spent every waking moment with them while deployed. The squad was often split in two teams of 6 to patrol a wider area, and Liana grew much closer with the 5 teammates she was often grouped with. Everyone was treated with equal authority under the Commander as they had all worked hard to get where they were. Even when they were home on break from deployment they often checked up on each other and went out for drinks as often as possible.     After a couple years spent with her squad on and off deployment, they received a 3 year mission in Somalia Africa. Her squad was there to gather intel on the nearby armed forces and to determine whether or not they were working with the sea pirates. The locals were hard to blend with at first, but after a few months spent in the area Liana was able to adapt to their ruthless, almost bloodthirsty behavior. Most of the locals were common criminals, but there were groups of terrorists in town and kidnappings were a common occurrence. The pirates mostly stuck to the docks when they weren’t out on the water, which caused Liana and her team to prowl the docks at night in search of information.     After 2 years and 8 months spent in Somalia, Liana’s team had collected almost everything they needed to complete their mission. The only thing left on the agenda was for her team to infiltrate the terrorists to find any last details that were missed during their previous investigations. It was decided that the Operations/Intelligence Sergeant and the OIC would infiltrate the group for a handful of weeks while the rest of the squad continued their surveillance like normal.     After 2 weeks of their squad member’s infiltration, the group was ambushed while out on patrol. Most of the group was killed in the ambush, but Liana and a few others were taken back to their base to be interrogated. After a month of torture for information, Liana was the only surviving squad member. Liana had been left in a cell with the bodies of her murdered squad and left for dead. One of the men inside the base discovered that Liana was still alive and without guards, and decided now was his chance to “get the action he’s been missing” while she couldn’t fight back. As soon as the male was bent down over her, she used all her strength to kick him in the groin and strangle him once he was down. She slowly dragged herself out of the base and was able to contact her squad’s emergency evacuation with a nearby stash of supplies her team had hidden.     After Liana was home and her wounds were healed, she was advised she could only go back in the field if she passed months of mandatory therapy. Liana attended her mandatory therapy until she passed her evaluation to return to the field. Her parents hadn’t come to see her since she had first returned from her mission and was in the hospital, though they did occasionally call to make sure she was still on track with her therapy to be qualified for returning to service. She decided that the deaths of her only real family was too much and she moved to Las Vegas to get away.     Shortly after moving to Las Vegas, Liana decided to look for work. She had hardly started to look and put her resume out there when Jack approached her with a job offer. Liana was hesitant at first that she wouldn't be able to handle a gun again, but quickly fell back into the routine of things. Her only requirement for working under Jack was that she work alone, never on a team.       Liana has now been living in Las Vegas for 5 years, working under Jack. She refused to be part of a team due to her trauma and loss. She was happy working by herself and would rather be out on a mission than at home. Her routine was interrupted when Jack sent her to assist his team of “chosen ones” on a mission. After the reassurance that it wouldn’t be a regular thing, she set out to “babysit” Jack's team. However, she was roped into joining the team by also becoming a chosen one and has loved almost every minute of having a family again.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Liana's biggest achievement in her parent eyes was when she earned the title Weapons Sergeant of the Special Forces Green Berets. In her own eyes, it was when she gained the family she had always dreamed of with the Green Berets. Her biggest accomplishments were anytime she protected her family and they all made it home at the end of the day.

Failures & Embarrassments

Liana's biggest failure was surviving when the rest of her team, her family, was murdered.

Mental Trauma

Liana left the military due to being the only surviving member of her squad after an ambush. She still has trouble sleeping and is overprotective of anyone she's on a mission with.   Liana is afraid of clowns, and has been since childhood. Her fear stems from a carnival in her hometown when she was 8 years old. Her parents took her to a haunted carnival and the clowns scared the living daylights out of her. She hasn't been able to look at a clown without shuddering since.

Liana has no trouble killing, especially when it comes to protecting members of her team. She appears sadistic and murder-happy to cover the pain of her past. She has recently been working on moving past her murderous ways to earn the favor of her girlfriend Chrissy.

Liana's motivation used to be to live the life her teammates never could. Now, she gets out of bed every morning with the thought of her new team, which is slowly becoming her family.

She hates camping and will avoid it at all costs, but doesn't mind being out in nature... Especially when there's cute animals involved. When she's not on missions, Liana goes for runs and works out. She has been looking into joining a sports team, but hasn't decided which sport and whether or not she can join a team with incoming missions.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Veronika Quist Weapons SGT Swedish, olive skin, blonde hair, brown eyes, 5'05, slim build. Veronika and Liana often had friendly competitions. They would always compare how well they did on missions and who hit their targets with the cleanest shots. The entire squad knew about these competitions and would often place bets on who would come out on top for the current mission.   Bridget Henson Medical SGT White, pale skin, curly and frizzy shoulder length red hair, green eyes, freckles covering her face and arms, 5'10, slightly heavier set. Bridget was the sweetheart of the group. She was easygoing and got along with everyone. She was the mother hen of the group, making sure everyone was fed and happy. She was the first to go to bed at night and the first to wake in the morning. She handled most of the meals, but gladly accepted help when offered. Liana often spent hours talking with Bridget and asking for her advice. Bridget often planned "family nights" that consisted of board games and movie nights.    Pamintuan (Tua) Cachuela Commander Filipino, tan skin, shoulder length black hair in a ponytail, light blue eyes, 5'08, muscular build. Pamintuan, often called Tua, only showed her role as commander when on a mission. She was always on the quieter side, preferring to observe rather than participate. She always kept an eye on her team's mental status, ready to listen or give advice when needed. She often felt out of place participating in "family time" due to her role as commander, despite being told countless times by the others that they wanted her there. She encouraged the team to work out and participate in strenuous activities together to learn each other's limitations and tells. Liana saw Tua as a role model, and often tried to behave in the same mannerisms when on missions. Tua knew how Liana viewed her and tried to spend extra time with her outside of work to, in a sense, tutor her.

Family Ties

Liana hasn't spoken to her family since she lost her team. She moved away and changed her number to escape their judgement.

Liana is very adventurous and outgoing. She loves meeting new people and is very protective of her family.
