Gwen Goodwin stands, microphone in hand, in front of an unassuming office building, which may soon become as infamous as Prescott Tower. Blue and red lights provide the usual lighting effects and there are people scurrying to and fro, trying to look ‘official’ and ‘busy’ as they often do when a camera is likely to be rolling.
She nods in acknowledgement of the handover from the studio - and then addresses the camera directly. "We now know that there has been a Second Catalyst Event, and that it originated from this building behind me. Witnesses saw the Millennium Marvels surround the building, saw Lady Liberty throw a car which bounced off the structure; and then they felt the world change around them… Sources who claim to be close to the Marvels say that they were attempting to recover Prescott Industries’ stolen power source – widely believed to be the cause of the First Catalyst Event – as well as rescue a kidnap victim who was none other than Silas Prescott’s son Grayson Prescott. Both were being held by a super-villain with two faces known as Janus, who was supported by an elite non-powered group of paid mercenaries. During their mission, the Millennium Marvels are said to have inadvertently triggered the device, which has caused powered-beings to awaken across the world. Sources indicate that Grayson Prescott was successfully rescued, but that he's in a poor state of health from injuries sustained during the torture he was subjected to by his captors.
Attention has turned once more to Prescott Industries and some are starting to question the origin of the device and whether it was manufactured there, or whether they were experimenting on some mysterious artifact of unknown origin. Silas Prescott has so far refused all requests for interviews. But the question of accountability still looms large and isn't going away. It seems certain that the authorities – as well as you and I - will want some answers from Prescott Industries in the very near future."
