City Runner Article - When the scales of Justice are sorely tested

By Poppy Patel   Unusual scenes were reported in the Halls of Justice today as, according to reports and eye witness accounts, a stage was set for a dastardly plot to discredit or destroy one of the newly forming groups of Super Heroes starting to emerge in Millennium City. A short while after 6pm yesterday, the foyer of the Halls of Justice was taken over by person or persons unknown who somehow constructed a set of double gallows where the statue of the Lady of Justice stands. On this gallows, a man and a young teenage boy stood on trapdoors which, if opened, would ultimately lead to their deaths. In front of this gallows, a stick had been planted in the ground, a sign hanging from it saying 'Advert: Phantasy Inc, choose wisely'. All attempts to help the two trapped figures failed as it appeared that no-one could actually touch them or the gallows.   A short time later, a sinister-looking man, with a shifting face and dark clothing, along with a woman, dressed in the garb of a hero, yet clearly struggling to walk with the aid of crutches, emerged from the back of the room. When asked if they were Phantasy Inc, they confirmed their identity, along with their monikers Grimm and Morpheus. They spent some time talking to the guards and the two trapped victims, identified as Jason Price, 54, a banker with DeVail Bank, and William Fredricks, a member of the Firebirds gang in Northbridge.   The conundrum was clear. Try to save both the man and the boy or work out which life should be saved. Mr Price told the duo of Heroes to save the boy, who didn't disagree with that sentiment. After some time, during which the duo stalked the scene, quietly discussing their options, Morpheus disappeared from view in a shimmering haze, to re-appear moments later with another stick, exactly the same as the first, except that it had that same strange haze around it. After ascertaining that both sticks could touch the scaffold, as one, they placed the sticks under the trapdoors to stop them opening.   There was a flash, followed by a stunned silence as the gallows disappeared, replaced by the usual statue. Both potential victims were safely on Terra Firma and, after checking on the victims' well-being, the two heroes disappeared, once again surrounded by a strange haze.   Eye witnesses at the scene reported seeing an old lady enter the lobby, stand in the middle and start speaking. All they can remember are the words "Once Upon A Time..."
