WorldEmber Homework
I know I have a gazillion things to do (including finishing "Portal Goblin, Volume 1", writing "Void Rat", and finishing my December story, "Light in the Darkness"), but I couldn't resist signing up to this challenge!
I'm planning to write 10,000 words of worldbuilding December. SAY WHAT???
It's gonna be tough, but it's also gonna be fun and awesome. Just think, by the end of this year, you're going to have a really vivid idea of what the Portal Goblin world looks like, and you'll be ready to dive headfirst into Volume 1 when I release it into the wild!
So, let's get into the prep...
The Pledge
As I mentioned above, I'm pledging to write (at least) 10,000 words of worldbuilding goodness during December. Here's a graphic to make it official...
I really like how accountable this makes me feel!
The Bingo
I'm working on the fourth row of this bingo board...
- Plan your worldbuilding playlist (it's done! And it's basically Dragonforce and Wind Rose for some reason!)
- Make a list of articles you want to write (done - keep reading for those!)
- Plan your writing schedule (two articles per week, although I'm loosey goosey on the days I'll write 'em)
- What kind of people can you find in your worldbuilding area? (goblins, Night-Visions, humans, gnomes, strange lil blobs, and rats... and that's just for starters)
- Do some research about the topics you'll write about (I wasn't sure what to do here, but I did have to read up on rats earlier, so I guess that counts!)
My WorldEmber List of Articles
This is what I'm aiming for:
The town (which I still need to name) in "Light in the Darkness"The witch
The tavern
Night-Visions
The Candle (the importance of this will become clear)
Wuurmm
Reaper
Room of Portals
Portal Gate
It all seems so simple when I write it out like that, doesn't it? I'm not sure if I'll write the articles in that order, but this gives me a nice starting point. It's good to have a plan!
| Task | Number |
|---|---|
| Words Planned | 10,000 |
| Articles Planned | 10 |
| Coffees Planned | I don't think I can count to that number... |
