Old Noggin
Rough and tumble trade village.
Old Noggin started as a trading post but has grown into a large village do to its advantageous location and the comparative safety offered by the reputations of its rougher inhabitants.
Old Noggin was originally a single building constructed by a small family of bugbears and named after the particularly large statue head it was built near. As the nearby road became more used the original building expanded in a haphazard manner with additions and outbuildings being added until a small village formed.
The original post remains the largest building in town and serves as an inn, general store, loading area, and blacksmith.
Old Noggin has a reputation for attracting rough business minded people. The village has very few official laws and as a result brawls, fights, and similar behaviors is not uncommon. However any behavior that would have a major negative impact on the trade status such as theft and banditry are quickly and often violently stamped out. The resulting safety of ones goods and to a lesser degree ones person has helped bolster the value of Old Noggin as a trade destination and rest spot. Travelers and merchants who frequent the village are eventually seen as locals by the villagers and are often greeted with a free drink, night at the inn, or a punch in the nose depending on how their last visit went.
No one knows where the house sized carved stone head the town is named after originated from as no other statues have been found in the surrounding area. The only thing that is known for sure about it is that it is old.
