Airdeheu

Willowy, elegant, nocturnal--the Airdeheu, a race superior to humans, supposedly formed from the words of Heq prior to the birth of humans. Once native to the North, Airdeheu (known among humans as Greater Fae) have since migrated into the mountains of the East and West, where they live in a complex society among the great evergreen forests.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Greater Fae are two-armed and two-legged, with two to four eyes and a two-lipped mouth. They are bipedal, slim-built, and muscular, with strength beyond that of the average human. They are vertebrates, with an observed rib cage and other standard mammalian bone structure. Their ears are large and cupped, with an upwards point which faces the rear of their head. These ears have some degree of horizontal mobility.   Female Fae are generally taller, with larger ears and less eyes. Male Fae are shorter, but more muscular in stature, most frequently observed with four eyes. Some intersex Fae have also been noted, with three eyes and varying combinations of musculature and height.   Their skin is very prone to burns under sunlight.

Genetics and Reproduction

Greater Fae have an observed female/male dichotomy and reproduce through a typical mammalian mating ritual. Greater Fae females carry the offspring for a full ten months before giving birth, at which point she leaves the family unit and the male partner takes responsibility for rearing and training. Greater Fae typically give birth to no more than one offspring at a time, and will not reproduce again for seven to twenty years.

Ecology and Habitats

Greater Fae are nocturnal creatures. They prefer colder climates in well-forested areas, with access to bodies of both fresh and saltwater, but are durable in all climate types.

Additional Information

Average Intelligence

Greater Fae are equal to or more intelligent than Pog humans. They are capable of crafting tools and technically building, although they avoid the latter as it disrupts their environment. They speak a fully developed language.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Greater Fae possess a degree of echolocation, which is executed by constricting their larnyx and emitting the resulting sound through the mouth.   Greater Fae also have innate magic ability--they have strong influence over plants and water, and may convince animals to do their bidding or fight on their behalf for brief periods of time. They do not need to verbalize spells in order to communicate intent or exchange energy, and instead 'cast' through or physical contact with the object or being they intend to influence.   Greater Fae also have excellent night vision, and will struggle to see clearly in daylight.

Civilization and Culture

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

--HUMANS--
Greater Fae have reproduced with humans before, typically after a single Fae male does not or cannot find a Fae mate. After birth, the human female is presented with two choices: either the Fae male can take the child and raise it as proper Fae, although she will not see it again, or he can leave and she will raise the child on her own. No matter the outcome, the Fae male will not stay with the human, nor as a Fae ever been recorded as choosing to do otherwise.   This is rare, as most Greater Fae view humans as slightly above Lesser Fae despite being of the same intelligence level.
--LESSER FAE--
Greater Fae and Lesser Fae are technically capable of reproduction, but under no circumstances would a Greater Fae attempt to mate with a member of the species. Lesser Fae are not only typically kept as aids by Greater Faes, but they are viewed as almost child-like in comparison.
Genetic Descendants
Scientific Name
Greater Fae
Origin/Ancestry
Heuqi
Lifespan
1,300 years
Conservation Status
Greater Fae are rare, almost endangered. It is a mutual agreement among humans that they are to be avoided and left undisturbed at all costs, and when encountered, treated as nobility of the highest ranking (save for that of the reigning monarch). Their lands in the forest are treated as sovereign when encountered.
Average Height
6'8" - 9'5" ft
Average Physique
Lean muscle and little fat
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Greater Fae skintones range from deep ash to porcelain. Female Fae have a dappled skin pattern, while males have a freckled one (and some have been observed with a combination of both). Both varieties of markings are lighter than their natural skin tone and often resemble patches of light.
