Pits
A work of flash fiction set on the world of Plex
Gable came upon the pits on this third day exploring this part of Plex. They looked deep—too deep to see the bottom.
Was it worth exploring? Some of the pits on this fleshy world could be dangerous. Filled with acid, or worse. Or haunted by baams or other nasty wildlife.
On the other hand, some of them had water, or better yet milk, or something else potable, and honestly Gable hadn't brought as much water on his trip as he should have. Yes, it was probably worth exploring.
The pit was just wide enough for Gable to chimney his way down, supporting himself by pressing his arms and legs against the sides as he descended.
He'd barely made it down five meters before he smelled a familiar, metallic scent.
Blood. Jackpot. Gable loved the taste of Plex's blood.
