The Rookery
The Rookery is the name of the crime syndicate lead by the enigmatic Rook.
Based in the Stelavorn city of Liraj A'Talvo, it is the largest organized crime outfit in the Shengalvan archipelago. They deal mostly in smuggling and the sale of illegal goods, but are not remotely above murder-for-hire, extortion, large-scale theft, and sabotage if the payoff is high enough. This is redeemed somewhat by a policy of "eating shadows first." The Rookery usually preys on unsympathetic targets for its more violent crimes, such as other criminal organizations, pirates, and Vanorax operatives, which leads to a sort of benign neglect from the Stelavorn authorities.
The Rook themes his operatives' ranking around chess pieces and corvids, often in combination.
