Life Before Championhood (543–567 PR)

  Born in the coastal shadows of Lamuria, Zarlax was marked from birth. Her pink-toned skin and ember eyes singled her out as Tiefling, a living reminder of Tibur’s infernal bargains. Her mother was a Lamurean exile, her father unknown. She grew up among whispers of Zonid’s Blood Eclipses, watching the faith of old gods fade while her people were hunted for their infernal bloodlines.   Zarlax became a thief, smuggler, and eventually an assassin-for-hire in Leadenport. She worked with pirates, Lamurean outcasts, and even Handdite cultists when their coin was good. But survival wasn’t enough. She hungered for meaning, for control over the chaos her blood cursed her with.   The Turning Point (567 PR)   During 567 PR, Zarlax stumbled upon an ancient God Hand Talisman buried in the ruins of a collapsed Lamurean shrine. The relic seared her flesh yet whispered to her in her dreams, showing her visions of Zonid’s domain—a void of collapsing time and shifting stars.   Haunted, she sought knowledge of the Handites and learned of Zonid’s rise as the first of the Dark Gods. She began performing rituals in secret, bending her will and blood to the void’s pull.  

Becoming Zonid’s Champion (570 PR)

  The final test came when she was captured by the Order of the Silverbrand after assassinating a Tibur inquisitor. Imprisoned, she prayed not for freedom but for power. On the night of her execution, time shattered around her.   The noose broke. The gallows rotted into dust. Guards froze mid-motion as if turned to glass. And in that silence, Zonid appeared—not as a god of flesh, but as a shadow of blood and void.   "You were born of empire’s sins. Now be reborn as my blade."   When time resumed, Zarlax was no longer mortal. She had become The Rift-Touched, her body infused with Zonid’s voidfire, her soul bound to the endless distortion of his realm.  

Now – Champion of Zonid and the God Hands

  Zarlax serves Zonid as a hunter of moments—a champion who bends time and space to unmake her enemies before they strike.   Weapon: The Voidfang, a dagger that cuts not only flesh but memory.   Powers: She can rewind seconds of combat, blur herself through space, and trap foes in echo-loops where they die the same death over and over.   Role: Unlike Ivar’s brute immortality or Vaelthar’s madness-driven corruption, Zarlax is a scalpel. She strikes commanders, assassins, and chosen champions of rival gods.   Among the God Hands: She is Zonid’s “Mirror Blade,” ensuring that every plan of the mortals bends eventually into inevitability—the God Hands’ victory.   Legacy   Zarlax’s name is whispered in both reverence and terror among Handdite cults. In mortal records she is sometimes called “The Forgotten Knife”—because her victims’ legacies vanish as if erased from history.   Even among the Champions, she is feared; for where she walks, time falters, and memory itself becomes unreliable.
