The History of Vreshka Fangmaw "Weak males lie-die underfoot. Females rise-rise, take-take power!"   Birth and Early Life Vreshka Fangmaw was born into a minor Skaven clan in the Underdark, in the sprawling depths of Rat Pitt. Her early years were spent in the squalor typical of Skaven society, marked by constant brutality and survival through cunning. Born with an unusually sharp intellect and an unyielding will, Vreshka quickly learned to navigate the cruel hierarchy of her clan, where females were often little more than breeding stock or fodder for labor.   Unlike most Skaven females, Vreshka was not content with her assigned role. She harbored a deep hatred for the males who ruled over her with cruelty and disdain. Her unique red eyes, a rare trait that caused her to stand out even among her own kind, became a symbol of both fear and fascination within her clan.   The Breaking Point Vreshka’s turning point came during an incident with her clan’s chieftain, a brutish male named Kreth Slimefur, who attempted to assert his dominance over her. Instead of submitting, Vreshka struck him down in a fit of rage, using a sharpened bone shard to sever his throat. This act of defiance marked her as a target, but it also ignited a spark of rebellion among the oppressed females of her clan.   Fleeing her vengeful kin, Vreshka gathered a group of like-minded females and began orchestrating a coup. Over several months, she assassinated the male leaders one by one, using poison, traps, and sheer cunning. Her rebellion culminated in a bloody uprising where she and her followers slaughtered the remaining males, establishing a matriarchal rule.   Founding of Clan Fangmaw With her old clan shattered, Vreshka declared herself Matriarch Fangmaw, naming her new clan after the ferocious bite she used to kill Kreth in their final confrontation. She proclaimed that females were the true inheritors of power, while males were weak, disposable tools.   Under her leadership, Clan Fangmaw grew rapidly, absorbing other oppressed Skaven females and challenging the traditional patriarchal structure of Rat Pitt. Vreshka introduced the Ritual of the Maw, a brutal rite of passage where new recruits castrated captured males to prove their loyalty. This practice cemented her clan’s reputation as both feared and reviled.   Rise to Power Vreshka’s ambition knew no bounds. She quickly established the Scarred Warrens as her clan’s territory within Rat Pitt, fortifying it with traps, warbeasts, and her loyal warriors. She forged alliances with Clan Darkborn, trading captured males for monstrous creations, and Clan Darkreaver, who respected her cunning and occasionally collaborated on assassination missions.   Her charisma and ruthlessness attracted powerful allies, while her innovative strategies and unorthodox tactics made her a formidable adversary. Vreshka’s rise was not without resistance, however, as many male-dominated clans sought to crush her growing power. Each attempt ended in failure, with the attackers often left mutilated as a warning to others.   Personality and Traits Vreshka is a cunning and charismatic leader, blending ferocity with tactical brilliance. She is known for her sharp wit and ability to inspire unwavering loyalty among her followers. Despite her ruthless demeanor, Vreshka genuinely believes in the superiority of her matriarchal ideals, viewing herself as a liberator of oppressed females.   Her red eyes, a symbol of her defiance and uniqueness, are said to gleam with an almost supernatural intensity. Her sharp claws, honed to deadly points, are as much a weapon as her mind. Vreshka’s presence commands fear and respect, even among her enemies.   Family and Legacy Vreshka has taken no mates, viewing males as tools rather than equals. However, she has adopted several female protégés, whom she trains in the art of war, leadership, and cunning. These protégés, known as the Daughters of the Maw, are groomed to carry on her vision should she fall.   Her most trusted lieutenants include:   Tresh Fangmaw, her eldest and fiercest protégé, who serves as the clan’s warleader. Yssra Fangmaw, a shadowy priestess who channels the dark blessings of the Great Horned Rat Spleet. Krinn Fangmaw, a beastmaster responsible for taming the warbeasts that guard the Scarred Warrens.   Challenges and Ambitions While Vreshka’s rise has been meteoric, it has also drawn significant attention from the Council of Thirteen and other powerful factions in Rat Pitt. Many view her as a dangerous aberration that threatens the traditional order of Skaven society. Assassins and saboteurs are frequently sent against her, but none have succeeded in bringing her down.   Vreshka’s ultimate goal is to overthrow the Council of Thirteen and establish a new Skaven order, one where females reign supreme. To this end, she has begun experimenting with alchemy and forbidden magics, seeking to amplify her power and secure her legacy.   Legacy Vreshka Fangmaw is a name spoken with both fear and awe in the depths of Rat Pitt. Her vision of a matriarchal Skaven society has disrupted the traditional power dynamics, and her clan’s brutal practices serve as a constant reminder of her unyielding dominance.
