History Before Championhood
Youth in the Emerald Isles (208–535 PR)
Elyndra was born on the Emerald Isles, where song and poetry carried as much weight as blade and law. From a young age, her voice was renowned across the courts of isle-lords — clear, haunting, and tinged with melancholy. She wove spells into her ballads, able to calm beasts, stir armies, or make even tyrants weep.
Her heart belonged to Aelthar Caedwyn, a knight of the Isles. They were inseparable — he fought on the battlefield, she sang for the campfires. Together, they dreamed of uniting their fractured isle under a banner of honour and song.
Loss in War (535 PR)
When Zelistra’s Abyssal hordes pushed westward, Aelthar marched to defend the Isles. Elyndra followed, singing on the battlefield to inspire his men. But in the slaughter at the Battle of Sable Coast, she watched Aelthar cut down by a Balor’s flaming whip, his body dragged into the abyss.
Her song broke that day. Grief hollowed her. For years she wandered, her music turning to dirges of loss and despair. The Emerald Isles whispered her name only with pity: the widow who sings to the dead.
The Fracture and Geardaz’s Claim (540–550 PR)
Her grief led her into the study of forbidden dissonances. She discovered that fractured chords could warp the world — making the air shimmer, making listeners see what wasn’t there. She came to believe that harmony was a lie, that only discord reflected truth.
Her song finally tore the veil. The skies split, and she was drawn into the Teal Wastelands of Geardaz. There, aberrant choirs of faceless beings demanded she surrender her music to madness. Instead, she made her sorrow her weapon — singing her grief into them until they shattered into fragments of light.
Geardaz himself whispered through the broken sky:
"Your song has no end. Serve me, and even loss becomes power."
She accepted. Her harp was reforged into the Lyre of Shattered Echoes, her staff crowned with crystal that sings with every spell.
Now – Servant of Geardaz and the God Hands
Elyndra serves as Geardaz’s bard of lament and discord. Where Ivar embodies brute force and Vaelthar embodies distortion, Elyndra spreads Geardaz’s will through sorrow.
- Her Songs: She can unravel armies with dirges of despair, driving soldiers into madness or stilling them in hopeless silence.
- Her Magic: She bends reality through fractured harmonics, summoning aberrant choirs and illusions born from grief.
- Her Role: She is not just a corrupter but a reminder that every song of love eventually becomes a dirge of ruin.
Encounter with Kasien Ash-Fall
When Elyndra beheld Kasien Ash-Fall in Geardaz’s realm, she faltered. His youth, his fire, his grim determination — all reminded her of Aelthar, the lover she had lost centuries ago.
For the first time in an age, doubt touched her. Was this grief eternal, or had Geardaz cursed her to relive her loss through echoes like Kasien?
Geardaz whispers for her to break him — to twist Kasien into discord, to make him her shattered instrument. Yet in the silence between songs, she wonders if she desires instead to protect him, to save in him what she could not save in Aelthar.
Legacy
Among the God Hands’ cults she is worshipped as the Lament of Discord. Her followers believe that by singing her dirges, they may break the Weave itself, undoing the false harmony of gods and mortals alike.
Her vow, whispered before each performance:
"Every harmony dies. I will sing until only discord remains."
