The Pact of Dagger and Dawn
Centuries ago, a rare and uneasy alliance was brokered between the High Heaven of Malendrii and the Infernal Thrones of Ashomiza, Queen of the Nine Hells. The world was threatened by a growing cosmic plague known only as the Unbinding—a tear in the Weave that threatened to unravel Law, Order, and even Chaos itself.
To seal this pact, the Archangel Tairon, Malendrii’s most devout and most merciless blade, descended into the Infernal Palace—not to destroy, but to negotiate.
There, in a moment of strategic surrender and divine recognition, Tairon laid with Ashomiza.
From this union of radiance and ruin, Alastor was born.
Birth in Flame and Judgment
Alastor was born amidst twin eclipses—one solar, one lunar. His scream split obsidian. His blood sizzled when it hit the stone floor. He had feathers of silver streaked with ember, and eyes like holy fire behind smoke.
Both planes claimed him. Neither trusted him.
In the Nine Hells, devils feared his potential, calling him “the traitor-spark” and watching for signs of rebellion.
In Heaven, the celestial courts whispered that he was a mistake, a weapon that should never have been made.
Only two beings ever truly believed in him:
His mother, Ashomiza, who saw in him a child of conquest, forged to rule not Hell or Heaven—but something higher.
His half-sister, Ashri Pyrrin, a true devil and Hell’s loyal warden, who loved him fiercely but viewed his compassion as weakness.
The Fracturing
At age 33, Alastor was summoned by the Courts of Malendrii for “testing.” The angels sought to awaken his holy lineage, to see if he could wield the Flame of Final Mercy—a divine fire only descendants of Malendrii could channel.
He passed.
But he hesitated.
When shown a captured soul—an innocent mortal corrupted by infernal deals—the angels told him to burn her. Instead, he spared her, speaking her true name, redeeming her.
That night, Tairon disowned him, calling him “a son of neither.”
Enraged, Alastor tore off his robes of Heaven, branded himself with Ashomiza’s sigil, and returned to the Nine Hells—not as a prince, but as a wanderer.
The Devil Who Weeps
In Hell, Alastor did not seek a throne.
Instead, he became a redeemer, a sword-for-hire, a punisher of tyrants and corrupters. He would break contracts and destroy soul-binders who twisted mortals. He was viewed with contempt by infernal lords, but none dared challenge him—not with the Flame of Mercy in one hand, and Hellfire in the other.
He became known across all planes as:
The Riftborn – the one who walks the line between divinity and damnation
The Mercyblade – for never killing those who still had hope
The Scorch-Winged – for his wings: one silver-feathered, the other black-scaled, constantly smoldering
Current Whereabouts & Legacy
Alastor has abandoned the thrones of both his parents. He walks the mortal world now, especially the lands touched by Malendrii’s clergy or devil-worshipping cults, exposing hypocrisy and freeing those caught between Law and Damnation.
Some believe he seeks a third godhood—a power outside the divine binaries. Others think he searches for the soul of the redeemed girl he saved long ago, now lost to time.
Rumors place him near:
The city of Eul’Zanith, where angels and devils skirmish beneath a ruined sky
The edges of Platera, near forbidden temples once used by the God Hands
Or deep within Whitestone’s sacred crypts, searching for a lost piece of his lineage
