Boldaph Bridge

The Dwarven kingdom of I'r Derefin Mynudd Cartreff exploring out to their west was stifled by the Gweithred Gorge, an engineer by the name of Boldaph formulated a plan to span the gorge. Several years of effort later at the completion of the bridge, Dwarf scouts were sent out to explore the woods to the west; they were never seen again. Opening day ceremony at the bridge was not only meet by politicians, nobles and a crowd of commoners, but by a hail of arrows from the inhabitants of the Western woods. The battle that ensued was bloody and costly, opening volleys fell into the crowd killing many, including several nobles and officials, even the son and wife of King Amser Keidwad. Charging woodland inhabitants took the bridge easily, but were stalled as the Dwarven military rallied and pushed back. The heavy armored guards slowly pushed the more lightly armored but agile woodland creatures back across the bridge. Fear of this new and unprovoked foe that could take advantage of the chaos that would be unleashed by so many lost nobles, Boldaph and several of his engineers decided the way across had to be severed. Working behind the King's Guard, who where keeping their foes at bay, Boldaph and his team set about affixing explosive to his proud and joy. Seeing the work of the engineers, the woodland creatures put forth a massive push to overwhelm the guards and get to the workers behind. Boldaph ordered his men to run as he stood over the explosives with only a torch and dagger. His men refused their last order and grabbing anything took up a defensive ring around him. Watching the guard's losing formation and fighting individual battles along the length of the bridge, catching the commander's eye as he was overcome, Boldaph dropped the torch, the following explosion sent his team, the guards unit, their foes and a large portion of the bridge into the gorge and river a half mile below.
