|| Holey Grail Questing!

Overview

Holey Grail Quests are seasonal, month‑long community events held in the Social Server. Each "Season" lasts approximately 30 days and serves two key purposes:
  • To spotlight fan creators—artists, writers, botmakers, and more—by showcasing their work on the Wiki in the appropriate series' Fan Content category article.
  •
  • To offer bundle access through participation—giving community members without disposable income or from regions with inaccessible currency conversion rates a fair way to unlock bundle viewing privileges in the Business Server through creative engagement.
These quests are open to everyone. Whether you're cooking up a visual feast, bottling lore into written form, or stirring your fermented thoughts into a chatbot brew, there’s a category for you. Winners earn vanity roles and bragging rights, but all participants will have their work preserved here in the Pickled Pantry—labeled, jarred, and shelved with care.

How To Participate

1. Join the Social Discord Server

If you're not already in the Social Server, start there. You’ll need to complete the standard verification process, which includes submitting a valid form of ID to confirm you're 18 or older. This is mandatory—most channels (including event categories) are age-restricted.

2. Opt In to the Holey Grail Quest Role

Once verified, head to the ping-roles channel. Under the Fan Content Creator section, react to receive the @Holey Grail Quest role. This role isn’t required to participate or view submissions, but it will ensure you’re notified when new quests begin and when other creators share their entries.

3. Wait for the Theme Announcement

When a new Quest Season begins, moderators will post an announcement in the announcements channel. You’ll be directed to a new event category on the server, which will include:
  • A central event release channel.
  • A central event discussion channel.
  • A central event submission forum.

4. Submit Your Entry Before the Deadline

When you're ready to share your work, ping the event release channel with a link to your forum thread (e.g "Hey @Holey Grail Questers! I've drawn some cool art, check it out in: LINK"). Make sure you submit before the posted deadline—late entries won’t be considered.

5. Your Work Gets Preserved

Once the deadline passes, we’ll archive your submission in the Fan Content categories on the Wikis, tied to the appropriate series. If your submission is art of a character, it will instead be showcased in that character's Gallery article. These placements are permanent, unless you personally request removal.

6. Judging & Results

A panel of judges will review the submissions. While likes, comments, and community engagement will be taken into account, final podium placements are decided by the judges. Winners will be officially listed in the event articles and featured prominently in the pantry’s public shelves. If you don't wish to be judged, and are participating purely for non-competitive fun, you can attach the "Opt-Out" tag in your forum post.

Quest Categories

Active Categories

Active Categories are the default set of Quest shelves—always stocked, always open. These are the categories with a consistent level of community engagement, meaning we can reliably include them in every Holey Grail Quest season. If you're looking for the most accessible way to participate, these are your best bet.
Gallery Category
Gallery entries cover all forms of visual media—still, moving, or interactive. This isn’t limited to just illustrations or polished art. If it shows, and feels part of the pantry world? It belongs here.   We currently do not accept completely AI-generated content, such as Midjourney Generations. This includes human-edited AI pictures. The only exception is contents such as moodboards, advertisement flyers, and character introduction graphic templates—in these instances, the creative element is shifted away from the art itself and more towards how the creator curates and composes the design. We highly suggest you add a watermark.
Examples: digital paintings, sketches, moodboards, sprite sheets, comics, storyboards, collages, character reference sheets, mock posters, in-universe ads, maps, diagrams, animations, flipbooks, photo edits, render kits, 3D models, UI mockups, model sheets, visual devkits, clothing designs, graffiti tags, glitch art, VHS tape boxes, propaganda posters, inventory UIs, fake app interfaces.
Library Category
Library entries are text-based works in any form, and the definition is deliberately broad. Don’t just think “books”—think paper, ink, and digital sprawl. If it reads, and fits the theme? It fits the shelf.
Examples: Chats, flash fiction, short stories, novellas, novels, serialized chapters, poetry, song lyrics, personal essays, fictional essays, journal entries, diary pages, grocery lists, memos, letters, logs, interviews, testimonies, therapy transcripts, playbills, screenplays, scripts, newspaper clippings, obituaries, fake Wikipedia entries, field notes, pseudo-historical documents, archived documents, redacted files, religious texts, manifestos, propaganda flyers etc.

Inactive Categories

Inactive Categories are experimental shelves in the pantry—open to submission, but not guaranteed to be included in every Holey Grail Quest season. These categories demand more time, labor, or technical overhead, and might not receive enough entries to justify a dedicated space by default. If you’re serious about contributing to one of these, you must contact a moderator at the beginning of the event to discuss feasibility and coordination. If you are the only participant, or one of only three participants, you are guaranteed to place on the podium.

Chatbot Category
This category is for A.I OGs and ALTs intended for use on JanitorA.I or SillyTavern! Submissions can be wholly original characters or adaptations of existing ones, with emphasis on personality design, prompt engineering, and immersive lore integration. However, they must exist within the context of Pickles' Pantry series, whether that's Lite, Dense, or Saturated ones. We will accept creative interpretations of this category, such as Open World RPGs or Lorebooks.
Museum Category
Museum entries are for physical media—items you can touch, wear, or display IRL. If you're working in traditional craft or using digital tools to plan a real-world artifact (like printable cards), consider opening up this category. If it could live in a curio cabinet or behind museum glass? It belongs here.
Examples: handmade clothing, cosplay pieces, sculpted figures, accessories, jewelry, maskwork, puppets, textiles, custom containers, resin pours, embroidery, altered books, carved objects, stamps, artisan labels, apothecary kits, potion bottles, custom tarot decks, handmade zines, physical bundles or merch mockups.
Auditorium Category
Auditorium entries focus on audio-first content. This category collects submissions that are meant to be listened to. Perfect for creators who work with sound design, voice, or music. If it can be heard? This is your mic.
Examples: ASMR character roleplays, original songs, in-universe soundtracks, fan-made theme music, ambient noise loops, vocal covers, fictional podcast episodes, dramatic audiobook readings, spoken word poetry, audio letters, voice-acted monologues, confessional logs, sound collages.
Arcade Category
Arcade entries can be played. If your work lets people explore, click, input, or otherwise respond, this is where it lands. If your creation has interactivity as a mechanic or feature? This is its casing.
Examples: visual novels, narrative-driven games, browser-based experiences, quizzes, digital escape rooms, Twine stories, Ren’Py builds, itch.io-hosted experiences, Status-hosted series, mock apps, simulation interfaces, inventory systems.

Rules & Guidelines

1. Baseline Participation Requirements

You must be a member of the Discord server with completed 18+ ID verification to access submission channels. Verification is mandatory to participate. No exceptions. All members of the community are welcomed to participate. Moderators can participate and receive placements, but rewards will always pass down to the next eligible non-mod participant. This ensures prizes are reserved for the community.

2. Content Standards

All submissions must follow Discord’s Community Guidelines and the server’s internal content policies. Submissions containing NSFW content are permitted. Where all else fails, default to JanitorA.I Guidelines. Content that violates the safety, dignity, or consent of others will not be tolerated under any circumstance. The following will result in immediate disqualification, server removal, and potential permanent ban at the discretion of moderators:
  • Racial or ethnic slurs, hate speech, or bigoted language of any kind when framed in a way such as to support and promote the hateful ideologies they stem from.
  • Sexually explicit content involving minors (real or fictional)—this includes suggestive art, writing, or coded ageplay.
  • Bestiality or erotic depictions of non-human sentient creatures where consent cannot be established.
  • Glorification of hate crimes, white supremacy, Nazi ideology, or violent extremist propaganda.
  • Promotion or romanticization of self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, or substance abuse without proper content warnings or framing.
  • Graphic gore or body horror submitted without appropriate tags or opt-in warnings.
  • Content designed to provoke, troll, or harass individuals or communities.
Submissions that include AI-generated content (art, writing, code, etc.) must clearly label what aspects were made with AI. You will not be penalized for using AI, but judges will evaluate the proportion of human effort vs. automated generation. For example, the inclusion of AI images inside a human-written pamphlet will be accepted, clearly marked, and judged fairly.   While interpretation and flexibility are encouraged, your submission must still be recognizably on-theme. If a submission strays too far from the event’s stated theme, it may be disqualified without warning. When in doubt, ask a moderator before you start.

3. Submission Deadlines & Expectations

All entries must be submitted before the official deadline stated at the beginning of the event, and must follow the category-specific submission template pinned to the forum. Usually, this will be the last day of the month. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason. Plan your time accordingly. During the submission process, please keep discussion around entries constructive, supportive, and respectful. Harassment, vote manipulation, or hostile behavior will result in removal from the event and future participation restrictions.

4. Multi-Category Submissions

You are allowed to submit in multiple categories (e.g., Gallery + Library), but you can only win in one. We will rank your highest placing across categories. If you place in multiple, only the highest ranking will count for reward purposes. In the case of a tie in top placements across two or more categories, moderators will contact you directly to select the category you wish to be officially listed in.

5. Multi-Entry Submissions

You can submit more than one entry within the same category (e.g., two short stories in Library or multiple illustrations in Gallery). All entries will be accepted and reviewed, but keep in mind that the judges will assess each individually, not cumulatively. Only one entry per person per category will be eligible for podium placement. Submitting multiple entries does not increase your chances of winning and may divide attention or dilute impact. For best results, we recommend focusing your effort into one strong, polished submission rather than spreading yourself thin.

6. Submission Ownership

Submissions must be your original work or your adaptation of community lore. Collaborations are allowed, but all contributing users must be credited properly and meet verification requirements. Moreover, although all collaborators will be listed, only one collaborator is eligible to receive a Grail prize, and must be elected within the group. Do this by bolding the elected author/artist in your forum submission. Plagiarism or submitting content that is not your own will result in immediate disqualification and potential ban.

Pickled Prizes

All valid submissions will be archived in the Wiki, preserving your contributions with full credit. If you update your submission after the event ends, you may contact a moderator to have the Wiki entry amended. Winners of each category will receive Grail Roles (18 total available) based on placement—granting temporary access to bundle content in the Business Server. These roles remain active until the end of the next season, at which point they will either be removed or renewed if you place again. In addition to placement-based rewards, all participants will receive a "Seasoned Quester" Role, and those who have ever held a Grail Role will permanently carry the "Got Fuckin' Grailed!" Role as a badge of honor.
